Couldn’t make it today, sounds like I missed a cracker. Especially pleasing because we got slapped down at the Hive. We can beat anyone in the league at Moss Lane these days.

Really important win too given who our next 2 league games are against-doesn’t get much tougher than Chessy & Sarfend away. Very pleased to see Mooney makes his second full debut & contribute too. Just missing a goal by Linney-reckon a struggling Kiddy team next Saturday will get him notching again.

Also the attendances are really beginning to take off now. We keep getting results might end the season with a 2.5k average I reckon. It’s up over 2,100 now I think.

What's the weather situation in Alty? Pretty poor down here. Hope the match isn't in danger of being postponed bearing in mind the pitch has had a good soaking lately?

Yeah, should be fine I’d say. After the deluge earlier in the week, barely a drop of rain since Weds now locally. I’m sure a few have seen the photos of the pitch (that sort of trench in front of the main stand) it’s not going to be conducive to the style of football both us & Barnet like to play. Will need a fair bit of remedial work in the summer.

I couldn’t make it today for family stuff but seen enough of our games against them in the last year to get the picture. I’d have taken the point at KO as I don’t think we’ve played especially well for the past month now & it’s always a tough place to go.

I think all concerned on both sides will be relieved we aren’t playing each other again now this season (save the awful prospect of a play off tie against them lot). Bigger picture of 40 points by NYD, decent GD & a game in hand on a lot of sides-I’d have taken that in August. We need to strengthen in Jan though as below Chesterfield it’s much of a muchness & we have every chance.

A very poor Bank Holiday attendance today too. Just the 1600 more in at Moss Lane on Boxing Day. That stadium is totally wasted on their meagre fanbase.

Well bully for you. Hope you're not too bitter when we beat you (again) at yours in a few days.
PS. This isn't a bite which you're clearly trying to provoke but more of a heads up. 😉

If you think I was trying to get a bite, that's on you. I've liked Parkinson as a manager, and I like the ambition your club has shown over the last couple of seasons. Just thought that interview was interesting to say the least.

I found it really odd there’s a 2 page thread on his interview on your forum. It’s the Alty boss speaking to the Alty fans. The intended audience don’t give a monkeys about how well or otherwise the opposition played yesterday & are far more concerned with our own failings.

Well, that was abject. Easily our worst performance of the season, to my eyes.

We managed merely three shots on target, and the first of those didn't arrive until the 74th minute. The other two came in additional time.

You just got a sense that the players were not comfortable with whatever system we were set up to play. The absence of two key individuals simply served to illustrate that the depth of our squad was found wanting.

Halifax were sharper, better organised and fully warranted their victory.

I do wonder whether Ross' mobility had been hampered by Michael Cheek clattering him in the ribs during that second half at Bromley. That opening goal looked like rather a soft one to concede and was redolent of some of Byrne's mishaps last season.

Amaluzor looked totally off the pace; Kosylo was fortunate not to be sent off for a dreadful challenge; Conn-Clarke and Newby struggled to impose themselves on the game and Dackers failed to impress, once again (he doesn't merit his starting place, in my view, and it looks as if he might have peaked 14 minutes into his debut).

I think that I would have quietly retired that man of the match award today!

The sole consolation was the attendance of in excess of 3,900 (without the massive away following of a Stockport or Wrexham).

An afternoon to banish from the memory.

Spot on. Collectively we looked off it. I do feel the long & late trip to Bromley on Saturday night & getting back in the early hours of Sunday morning has taken the legs out of us a bit. They were sharper. You could see the effects of Ross injury for their goals too no doubt, he didn’t & perhaps couldn’t get down quick enough. Overall one to forget, with Osbourne & Roscoe both back from suspension on NYD & their much poorer home record I suspect it will be a different game at the Shay.

Off the pitch the attendance magnificent, 3500 home fans against run of the mill opposition a superb turnout. The main plus. We also did hospitality which was very good-food & service spot on. Club keeps growing but days like today when big numbers are in show the absolute imperative to modernise the ground if we are to move from a 2000 average up to 2,500 then 3k.

Halifax are one of those odd teams who seem to do much better away from home but we have a v strong home record so something will have to give. The injuries & suspensions we have in defence/midfield are a concern so we will have to be clinical with our finishing I think (unlike Fylde home game for example) as Halifax play a dour style & don’t give much away.

I foresee either a 1-1 draw or a 2-1 home win. Not much in it as usual because both clubs know each other so well. Forecast mild with no chance of rain which will be a relief to all concerned. I reckon the attendance will surpass last years 3,008 as we are doing much better in the league this year, I reckon 3,500ish with 5-600 grumpy Yorkshire folk in the away end.

King George by the ground has been specifically mentioned on the main Facebook fans group. Other pubs in the town centre that normally show football are Libero, Tavern on the Green & the Station. I’d say given Liverpool vs Arsenal also kicks off at 530 then the KG would be your safest bet.

Last year we'd have dropped points today.
We found a way to win and CCC and Ethan were immense for us.

Agreed. Some shocking finishing by us as well. Fylde made it a niggly game, committed a lot of fouls & tried to break it up as well they might being bottom. Ross was superb, if that was Byrne still we draw that no question.

Good after a long time off league action we got back in with a win & set us up for a top of the table telly clash at Bromley next Saturday. Decent gate too at this time of year & against tinpot opposition. Suspect we’ll be on for 3k+ vs Fax again on Boxing Day.

If we are on it, we should be winning & comfortably. I think another 2k home gate too. I’ll go 3-1 Alty in front of 2,356 with 102 away fans with their free coach. Good to get an update on Newby too unless I’ve missed it.

All speculation as the club aren’t going to officially release the actual reason he’s gone but given he was deemed the best candidate for the job only 6 months ago (and poached from a direct rival to boot) its a very rum do.

Only two realistic reasons I can think of-he’s got a better off elsewhere & jumped ship, in which case we’ll all find out soon enough anyway. Or he’s done something naughty and/or deemed not up to it hence we’ve binned him off quickly. Difficult in such a short time to assess his impact but average gates slightly below the last 2 seasons & football for a fiver against Kiddy did not return anywhere near the gate we wanted I suspect. On the plus side Hospitality has been selling out recently & then there’s the imminent shop in the town centre.

Oh well we move on, it’s hardly Parky & Sorvs leaving.

I’m a fellow CSC geek. So confirmed in the Quarters alongside us are Warrington, Congleton & Cheadle Town. The remaining second round ties all due to be played in the next 2 weeks are Alsager vs Hyde, Nantwich vs Witton, Macc vs Tranmere & finally Barnton vs Crewe. Quarters are due to be played by 27 Jan so assume we’ll know before Christmas who we’ve got in the Quarters. Cheadle away would be nice.

Hyde, Witton & Macc now join us in the Quarters with just the Barnton tie outstanding. No sign of a draw yet. Assume they might wait until all 8 QF are known.

Cant see it being on looking at the forecast , regardless of pitch covers
The dodgy bit looks to be in front of the main stand and the community hall, i suppose if we cover these well enough!

Frost covers I fear on their own might not be enough. I don’t know if United say have got any pitch heater lamps we can borrow. It’s absolutely freezing. Dorking very unlucky two Saturday trips up here might be done by the weather, if it’s 3rd time lucky bound to be a Tuesday. Really hope we can get it on though as I suspect a large gate & another home win.

Sure Rob Esteva did a pre season interview maybe through the club or the KOGR podcast where he said we were now about mid table in the budget league which sounds about right to me. You’d expect the bankrolled sides plus the recent EFL clubs to have more ££ than us still.
