Leamington - Match thread part 5
« on: January 11, 2016, 12:05:07 PM »

Another crack at a massive game tomorrow, hopefully we can get some sort of representation down there, not likely to be many under the circumstances but I will be there. Let's hope we can have a few to cheer the lads on in what will be a tough and potentially hostile situation. If we can get a result it's much needed prize money after what's going to be nine weeks without a home league game and a chance to progress further coming straight away at weekend. Leamingtons manager under genuine pressure so he will have them really fired up for this so we need to keep our composure and Dictate the play where possible

Tuesday is the only night I could even conceive of going down this week, but even then I'm struggling with a chest and throat infection.

Would be good to see the new lad get a decent run out at some point.

Working near leamington today so just nipped in. Still a group of volunteers trying to fix the pitch but they had a lot of rain last night and there is still standing water in the corners. They are still digging drainage channels but none of them were optimistic of getting the game on. Also spoke to chairman who was slightly more optimistic although was still really angry that the game was postponed last Wednesday.

Looking at those drainage channels makes me convinced the ref won't allow the game to go ahead. I have dug drainage channels like that in a garden and on the outfield of a cricket pitch.  They can only firm in the sods of turf they've removed to line the trenches, and they'll just fly out the second a boot lands on them, exposing gravel. A boot hitting the gravel or the sides of the trenches is shirley a recipe for an ankle injury?

Unless the FA get their collective fat arses in gear, and have the tie moved to a neutral ground, we could still be drumming our heels in March.

Beaconsfield SYCOB could not "pop back to Berkshire" Mr Bedworth, as they are based in Bucks!

Oh yeah, forgotten about that.  Most likely won't get to see him at then unless we extend the loan!

Thinking a run this morning was a good idea hasn't helped!
