What a fantastic development for the club, should be a big boost to future revenue streams, well done all involved!
Does anyone know if there is still going to be a small terrace in front of the new building?

Also looking at the photos I doubt it will look like that when it’s done at least I hope not! (Outside looks fine)
I would tinker it to look like the family stand with a small roof over the new terrace giving that side of the ground  a bit of symmetry.

Talking of football shirts, has anybody got any more old Alty shirts for this website? seems a shame we only have 13 and Halifax have 22

Great idea to re create one of our past successful kits now we have got a bit of money to do so, one form the 70's or 80s would be good.

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Re Stewarding, Sterile Areas etc
« on: August 17, 2012, 11:44:01 AM »
I have been advised by friends not to read the responses to my observations on the "brawling league" thread

So I will instead post on this one that I was not commenting on the actualities of the sterile area implemented for the Wrexham friendly, or tbh any other game.

I have my personal views as to whether this was appropriate or excessive but that was not really the issue I was trying to address, more that these decisions are not purely arbitrary but are largely based on intelligence recieved from Local Authorities,  Police Services and travelling stewards mixed in with experience and training and all of this undertaken on an entirely voluntary basis.

I apologise if any of my postings on this matter have caused offence or irritation, that was never my intention.

You should read it and try answering some of the issues/questions raised, it’s a ridiculous situation that has been handled badly by whoever makes the calls. There seems to be no explanation given as to why the home fans are treated as they are and the segregation is as it is.  Common sense says you move it along to the raised roof of the pop side for very rare large away attendances say over 1000 and reduce the size of the away terrace for other situations. There has been no real trouble in that corner, Alty dont have a hooligan problem, if away supporters are set on causing trouble they will try and get in the home end "Golf Rd" which is where the main efforts of the stewards /police should be concentrated.
All the stewards do a grand job and everyone it grateful, this is a policy issue not an attack on the stewards which should be looked at reviewed and addressed, simple as that.

Couldn’t agree more, part of the Moss Lane experience over the years is changing ends and going and standing next to the chequers end where the banter and atmosphere between the supporters used to be top notch. It’s got a little heated at times with the likes of Barrow, Macc, Southport etc... but i can’t recall a time when anything has kicked off in that corner. If the stewards want a bit of a sterile area move the away fans further along the away terrace, don’t move our loyal supporters half way down the pitch!!

Do you know how much it would cost to print 10,000 fliers? And who is going to distribute them. Most people would feel that the playoff run in for us is already over so what would we be advertising? I'm sure the club have thought of all these ideas but due to finance, volunteers etc they aren't practical.

Yes I have just done it for my business aprox £450 printed and delivered. I am aware they prob have thought about ideas until they are blue in the face but talk about marketing and promotions can only be healthy for the club. You have to spend a little to get any rewards.

The club could try a flyer campaign/promotion, send out 10000 flyers to the local area  to promote the playfoff run in , i bet this would get a few hundred people in. Go a step further and have a tear off slip that is stamped on the turnstyle , get three or 5 stamps for free entry to a match. Little po active promotions that get the locals involved and reward loyalty.

The club should at least try it once to find out, if done properly and heavily marketed at least a week or 2 before the match, (the Hyde or Halifax games would have been perfect) then it has great potential.
If the marketing was done right well in advance with good messenger/advertiser/men advert and posters, face book website etc.... then I could see this attracting a crowd of 1500-2000 for an important game.

There would be a loss on gate receipts but wouldn’t the extra spending in the ground and potential for new fans and exposure balance this?
