Agree, Stu marshalls his defence well, but apart from that, he didn't say much at all today.

For me it should be Crowell

After looking pretty good in pre season, it's clear that Joseph either isn't interested or isn't good enough.

Williams looks lost without a talker next to him and Smith despite being our best defender, isn't a good talker.

Brown doesn't look fit.....

I won't go on, because I'm making myself depressed writing this....

Absolutely agree, he looked the brightest Alty player on the pitch.

I also agree with Ecky's other post about the fans. However, not only must the fans stand up and be counted, so should the players and the management. I know we've had a few injuries to some key players, but we lack total creativity - Why? I honestly don't understand?

There is a lack of belief at the club at the minute, and whilst Heathcote will be supported to the bitter end by some people, he needs to instill some belief in HIS team. In the last 3 games i've seen him be apopleptic at times - picking on individual players who in my opinion have been probably amongst the best on the pitch. Then today after seeing his arse he spends the majority of the second half ignoring the game and not seeming to give a toss about what's happening on the pitch. We need to encourage players.... not condemn and ridicule them in front of other teams, how must those lads feel walking off the pitch knowing they're going to get a hammering at every half and/or full time? If they don't perform fair enough. But I thought we looked pretty good for the first 15 - 20 mins of both halves today. We also did OK in the first half at York. The Crawley and Southport games were fairly even - albeit not the greatest football....

I know that we're going to struggle this year, We have to expect that given we have one of the lowest budgets in the league, but lets at least go down trying, creating chances and playing decent football and even if we are losing 2, 3 or 4 - 0 , lets go down as a collective.

We need a performance next week and we need to do it together Fans, Players and Management.

Heart Alty 1 - 0

Head York 3 - 0 Alty

To be honest, I'd be happy with a shot or two on target and some decent football......

Have to say, never been his biggest fan. I think he has massive potential - pace especially, but will reserve judgement for now. I think based on his enthusiasm in his interview i'm optimistic, but in the games i've seen him play, he's been larthargic and a bit disinterested. To be fair though he hasn't made the best decisions - Farsley, Vics, Telford !!!

Good luck Damien.

Great news, hopefully he'll play in his favoured position in midfield. Looked much more effective there last year when he got the chance!

Think this will be tougher than most expect. I see they've brought in another 8 players this week (talk about a revolving door!)

I'd like a stress free afternoon, but think it will be a tense 1 - 0. Greg Young from a set piece.

Attendance 850 (6 from Grays)

Prove me wrong Alty!!!!

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: AT HOME THIS SEASON
« on: February 06, 2010, 11:56:08 AM »
I agree with Hughesy, 3-5-2 is our best formation. Pushing Densmore and Clee/Doughty forward as much as possible. As I stated on a previous thread, at home I would only play 2 of our central midfielders - Danylk and Kearney with Denham or Little just in front of them behind the 2 main strikers.

We'll see what happens today, sitting back absorbing pressure like we've done of late isn't the answer. We have to take the game to the opposition at home, just like we've done away in most games!

« on: February 06, 2010, 11:50:53 AM »
ATS, I agree that Tom is the most creative of the 3 and probably our best midfielder, but how many goals has he contributed? How many assists? I don't have the stats to hand, but I would guess that none of them stand out from the rest! So in this instance they are all very similar. I agree that the material to work with is missing but if your 'flair' players are sat on the bench then what can you do?,  none of the 3 are particularly box to box players, none of them are midfield hardmen, none of them are holding midfielders.. making them IMO similar type of players... I also think that the 3 of them should not play in the same team together, because it's 1 too many players trying to do the same thing.. Reverting back to my previous comment about flair players, I would much rather see 1 of them sacrificed (probably Lawton) to allow Denham or Clee have some licence to create opportunites up front.

I was in the bar about 1.45 last week, stood in front of a heater getting nice and toasty... So can confirm that the heaters were definitely on  :D :D

I think we do need a natural winger. I'm not convinced by Clee. He's a tryer, but never seems to beat a man or put in a decent cross..

Denham - When he's good, he's a world beater, but he's done nothing of late.. Maybe that is because one week he's on the wing, the next he's up front, the next he's on the bench?

Who else do we have in reserve? Densmore - Played full back most of the season, Lawton - NO! Tries hard but not a winger. Square pegs in round holes.

Whether GH has a problem with flair players is a different matter, but if Kearney is considered our most creative player then something is lacking.. Lawton, Kearney, Danylk - all too similar. I'd like to see Carden given a go, looked good when he came on last week and we don't know what Dolan is like...

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Salisbury Predictions
« on: February 05, 2010, 02:39:41 PM »
Despite their 10 point deduction and slightly false position, I don't think Salisbury are any better than they were when we beat them 3-1 at Moss Lane.. They've got a few new players who are experienced at this level, but they haven't bedded in..

If we keep Tubbs quiet, they won't score.

So i'm going for 2 - 0, hoping that we start 3-5-2 and don't try to contain the opposing team for the first half!

Attendance - 914 (35 from Salisbury!)

Can't see the game being on tomorrow tbh. Forecast for the South on Friday is awful with snow sweeping in from France, so would surely put the Trophy game in Jeopardy! Can see us playing Sat, Tues, Thurs a couple of times before the end of the season at this rate!

On that note, this must be one of, if not the longest spell of postponed games we've had? anyone know what the record is?

Great win lads. Didn't expect anything more than a point tonight.. It's nice to be looking at the play-offs rather than over our shoulders at relegation!

McCaliskey an inspired signing??

Come on lads!!!!!!!!
