Non Alty - coach drivers
« on: December 08, 2015, 11:42:56 PM »

Having just seen the article about Ian Senior being a coach and also helping out by driving a club coach, it reminded me of the following piece of trivia

Which former Premier League manager also once drove the 'team' bus (but not for his PL team I must add) to away games ?

Well done to Bob...............that was the answer I was looking for

He apparently did this in his first managerial job to save the club money when he was the manager of Hartlepools...............for some reason the team name had an 's' on the end of it back then.

Bournmouth and Boscombe Athletic anyone ?

n the same way Altrincham used to be spelt A-L-T-R-I-N-G-H-A-M Hartlepool was, historically, in the plural as (I think) there was a north and south Hartlepool.

Old Hartlepool and West Hartlepool but the towns merged which is why they went from plural to singular at the end of the 60's

Bit of a tangent, so apologies in advance.

Near Leeds there is a place called Crossgates, or is it Cross Gates? The train station hss signs using both.

Tedious huh...
