Shouldn't we be looking at the youth team at the end of June at abbey hey and using the 3 games we have before the big kick off in a fortnight to play our preferred (if available) strongest X1?

Bit odd really, especially as we could do with a morale boosting win under our belts.

Hopefully with Stuart back in net on Friday we might see it, adam Reid has good potential, but from this pre-season I think he's not ready yet, this is in no way me being critical, I just think he needs another year out on loan learning his trade. And if available we need our strongest X1 out against Wrexham and Burnley reserves. And I'd even pencil another friendly in against the youth team for our first X1 or someone else behind closed doors, poor starts have cost us the last two seasons. I know its hard to play full pelt in pre season but we haven't seen a first X1 yet and we start two weeks Saturday...

On a positive note it was good to see George Heslop in the managers dugout

If the team is ready and fit and we have a pretty consistent side to last year then maybe it is right not to push them too hard in pre season (Provided fitness levels are right).

I really couldnt care what results we get right now, it is the 17th that matters and again provided the players are confident of their ability and know they can step up on the 17th and win, then i am happy - on the other hand if the players have any doubts then i would be concerned.

In LS we trust !!!

Was a bizarre game, and not what I went to see. The football provided by the Altrincham FC 3rd Xl was certainly more entertaining than that provided by the Altrincham FC 2nd Xl in the first half. I can only assume that with another match this Friday Lee Sinnott didn't feel the need to put all the players through a game. I do wonder if some of them thought it was worth coming out just to run up and down that hill at half-time.

The two triallists in the first half (Byrom and Lord) were well below the standard required. The triallist keeper in the second half started well, but was badly at fault on the last two goals. The pies and the view were as good as ever (apart from that, Mrs.Lincoln, how did you enjoy the play ?  ;))

I think he was wearing sponsored mittens on the last goal. Modesty doesn't appear to be one of his attributes........
