Title: Boreham Wood Match Thread
Post by: robininstockport on August 24, 2022, 12:20:47 PM
Tough place to go at the best of times.

My line up prediction (this wouldn't be mine)

                  Mee

 Barrows. Mullarkey  Jones.  Baines

               Osborne.    Lundstram

  Bennett.    Conn-Clarke.  Colclough

                      Hulme

Bw 2-0 Alty

The more i see of us and the more thought i give im leaning to a 3-4-3, but can't see it happening

I think that we’ll see the same team that played v Yeovil.

Partly because Parky is stubborn but also because there’s a big game 48 hours later v Chesterfield. I can’t imagine Barrows would play on Saturday and be able to play again on Monday. Likely to go with the 4 centre backs in the face of a probable aerial bombardment.

I’ve no idea to be honest. I’m just pointing out that the teams for both games are linked together.

I’m not sure the things I’d like to see/changes I’d make are really possible in light of our tight options (ie, get the ball moving forward through midfield more). Think we’ll have a bit of pain before we get a decent winger signed up.

In the meantime I’ll take absolutely anything on Saturday (and Monday)

Byrne is cleared and will definitely go in. Hopefully Burrows will also start. Kaja could come in to the starting lineup

Usually a team of Big lumps of men.

Probably one of the most difficult away games of the season.

They are already a into a playoff position.

Would love to get a draw.

It will be great to finally see Olly Byrne in the team.

I think that will be the outfield team, but Byrne will be in goal.

Would like to see us roll the dice with Kaja in from the start, but I don't know what our loan arrangements require us to do with our current starters.

I do think 3 at the back is a case of 'be careful what you wish for' - always harder to implement than it looks.

Including you. Why not!

Seriously, I don't understand why anyone expects Byrne not to start, unless there was some condition attached to the loan.

Agree, think Ollie will come in with Mee on the Bench. personally would like to see Dinanga in there somehow. But like Hulme needs some form of service

3-0 win for Alty, a positive go forward attitude.

We have, for most of my thirty years watching Alty had a lone striker (some class acts by the way-Keith Russell a particular favourite). My earliest memories of McKenna and Brady make me long for a strike pairing, rose tinted etc etc.

That was a great performance to get something there. I wasn't confident we would.
Significant, perhaps, that all subs were up front and the back four was left alone.

It was a decent point. Again, we are proving very hard to beat. With a bit of luck we'll soon grab a much-needed win.

You can’t knock a point at Boreham Wood, they will be thereabouts in the play off mix at the end of the season. Well done Alty.

First time I’ve seen us play for a while. Dinanga seems to have lost a lot of weight and looked better for it. When Jackson came on I think I know where it went!

I thought osbourne put himself about well and his effort levels seemed a step above everyone else in the heat. Byrne is indeed a very vocal keeper and not just in connection with defending. I like it.

Colclough seemed completely off his game today not sure if he wasn’t feeling right with whatever niggle forced him off at the end. Perhaps he just got hacked off with being in acres of space on the left while we kicked about with short sideways passes on the right. We had half the pitch to aim at but rarely tried it after that early chance.

Special mention for lunstrams clearing header which was absolutely vital and a top effort to be there in the first place and avoid the og

Con clarke was anonymous and I’d give some one else a go there on Monday. Nana had very little opportunity to do better but showed a couple of nice touches. Overall we were very disappointing going forward although bennet took his goal well.

Defence looked decent against a threatening outfit.

Good effort from the boys, and I do feel we left something in the tank for monday.

2-1 for us on monday, a big shock (to others) onwards and upwards.

On You Tube the Wood's manager says that Marcus caused them plenty of problems. I wonder if anyone at the game can give us a view of how having Marcus on for the whole game and no Jordan was working out.

I though Marcus played well. Of course he doesn't hold the ball up as solidly as Hulme but he caused them problems. He hit the bar late on with the ball bouncing down on the line - it couldn't have been closer. You felt it was a defining moment - had it gone in he would have been up and running confidence wise.

Agreed. Definitely better than the odd game I saw him play early last season. Had next to no service is the issue both he and Jordan face

Thanks for the feedback. Sounds encouraging. What do we do about who the front runner is tomorrow do you think?

Not much in it so I’d probably play the fresh legs

Jordan at 9 Kaja bennet and Sami in behind based on Saturday alone. Obviously dropping colclough is odd but either he wasn’t fully fit (in which case don’t risk key player with two games in three days) or he couldn’t be arsed in which case he needs to know that he won’t walk into the team if he isn’t going to put a shift in.

Do we make Marcus captain? 😁
