Just seen the bad news on JL site.

A lovely fella to talk to.

I can only echo Ballers' tribute.
We do seem to have lost far more than our fair share of Alty stalwarts in recent times.

Sad news indeed. RIP

Terribly sad news, he is a club legend who will be very badly missed by so many, I had many dealings with Derek (and Ann) over the years and he was a true gentleman. RIP Derek.

The first face I met at Alty when I moved to the area in 2000. I wandered into the stadium and Derek came to greet me with a warm smile. Remember paying by cheque for my first season ticket in the office to him and how chatty and approachable he was. Real old school but in a really appealing way. Sad he's passed on. Sympathy to his family and RIP Derek. Real gent.

Almost exactly my experience of meeting and dealing with Derek. Was always friendly and would sit and write out your season ticket for you there and then.

He was the face of Alty to may of us, sorting tickets etc. What an absolute gentleman.
