I may be risking an ear bashing here but does anyone else feel that he was treated a bit unfairly yesterday? I just don't think he deserved the level of abuse he got. He may not have always been on form for us but at least he had some good games and scored a few important goals which is more than a lot of other ex players had done in the past.

I didn't go (being darn sarf for the festive period and all) but I would have had no desire to give Dale a load of abuse. He was frustrating at times but generally was a useful targetman for us. It's not like he did a Lee Elam and begged to be nearer his home only to go to Vics. He just chose to go to his old club at the end of the season, which he was perfectly entitled to do.

I was there yesterday and my reason for sagging off dale was that he left Alty to go to a small club with no real fan base or history. He went for money and has ruined what could have been a decent career.

He has a young daughter. Perhaps he really needed the extra money?

Some people's priorities are very strange indeed.

Dale is a half arsed waste of talent who if he could be bothered every week would be in the league.  Hence his amusement at the "tries once a month" song.

I wouldn't worry too much about it...he won't be.

Or is he another relegation legend who deserves a statue?

I never said he should be praised, applauded or whatever because you're right, he didn't pull his weight a lot of the time and is wasting his talent. I just thought the hostility was a bit unnecessary, that's all.

If a footballer can't take a bit of stick then he has no hope in the game. There are levels, personal abuse of family, gloating over personal issues/tragedies are one thing, but just getting a slagging off by opposition fans is nothing.

John Terry seems to thrive on it!

if he had bothered to turn up at home to eastbourne on the last day of the season we wouldn't be here now.

that said if he had bothered to turn up every week, he would be playing league one.

Glad to see everyone applauding Warren Peyton, always gave 100% and a man i think about everytime i have a pie or a piss at moss lane.

Johnson got 5 minutes of stick in 90 minutes, with one or two shouts dotted throughout the game.  nothing, absolutely nothing, to worry about for a footy player.

He wasn't interested in applying himself to meet his potential with Alty, so good luck elsewhere
