Title: Boreham Wood
Post by: roytonmike on November 16, 2015, 09:06:46 PM
This is worrying. They are now two down at home to the green slime in the Cup replay - if they manage to lose to the mob from the salt mines, watch out for a backlash on Saturday. Hope I'm wrong about that, but we do have a habit of under-performing against sides in the bottom third of the table ...

True - but they weren't much to shout about at home.

The fact they're losing to Northwich sort of suggests they're not very good...

They are a really odd club Borehamwood. I see the gate tonight was 512, so under 500 locals when the reward is a relatively local jaunt up the M1 to a winnable tie at Northampton. They had under 300 home fans when we beat them a couple of months back too. Decent ground and play off glory to feed on from last season but clearly no-one is in the town is in the slightest bit arsed. Also the worst South East/London away day I've ever been on for pubs too, it made Stevenage and Crawley look like a day on the beers round Cambridge or something, not one decent pub in the town centre. Essentially football at this level is wasted on them.

Saying all that we all know what happens when we play fellow strugglers at home...hopefully not this time.

The manager that got them promoted was Ian Allison.....he quit when they went to daytime training.

How are Vics funding that team on gates of 150 at Witton paying 90k for three seasons in rent?

It may come as a shock to you that not all football clubs are funded on gate revenue alone.

Yes, Vics rake it in from Sky payments, replica kit sales along with keyring and mousemat sales in their club shop.

I feel the same way. I was sat on the Stockport to Euston train behind a Boreham Wood fan and he thought there was only one team named Northwich - I thought that there are 4 plus Witton Albion?

I hope we don't get a backlash on Saturday as it is a proverbial 6 points

Isn't it three, with Witton being a far better club than all of them

There's Northwich Vics that won at Boreham wood.

There 1874 Northwich - one of their fans pops on here every now and then. This is the fans club if I am right.

and one other?!!??!?

Northwick Flixton Villa or something similar, I think?

Witton Albion - currently 16th in NPL 1 North
Northwich Victoria (spit!) - currently top of NPL 1 North
Both play at Wincham Park
1874 Northwich - currently 2nd in NWCL Prem; fans' club, playing at Winsford
Northwich Manchester Villa - currently 11th in NWCL 1; were effectively Vics Reserves, tho' whether that's still the case I'm not sure. Playing at Manchester Regional Arena (part of the Wastelands [sorry, Etihad Campus])
Hope that clears up any confusion as to identity/status of the various clubs from the salt mines!

If Northwich Flixton Villa are playing at that Etihad Campus ground they're playing in a better stadium than most league two sides. Bizarre, how did the reserve side of a Flixton based nomadic club wrangle that one?

Witton the biggest than all 3 don't make me laugh since they agreed a groundshare with Jim Rushe football club there crowds have been free falling and also dropping from Evo Stick Premier down to north division and only 3 points of relegation from that league so far this season having about 7 managers in the past year or so.

He didn't say Witton were the bigger club, he said they were a better club. Though allowing the Vics to ground share was a strange decision.

Explain how Witton are better than 1874 they have allowed a corrupt business man to pay them rent which they probably won't get even most Witton fans have given up hence the decrease in attendances only 58 at there home game last night.

I wholeheartedly agree with 1874 northwich fan.

It was an absolute disgrace of witton to allow that moribund club and its owner a place back in northwich to somehow legitimise that disgrace of a club.

I have no respect for witton, it's board and wish both clubs at wincham park no well at all.....it must grind to know the fa will be paying vics prize money.

All power to 1874 the only club IMHO we should recognise as Northwich.

Foul weather.

England v France on TV.

And it was a Mid Cheshire Senior Challenge Cup match.

Not really a representative attendance figure/fixture to pluck out of the air there.

If we had played a CSC game last night it probably would have been less than 200. Witton's average gate is actually about 330.

330 is good at that level but will go lower as they seem to be having a bad time

Witton Albion are better in my view cos they don't play in green and white, they don't have any link to any of the original vics other than coming from the same town, and of course my enemies enemy is my friend.

lets not get involved in Vics v Witton strava, big rivals no place for us

But yes the heart and blood of Vics is now represented by 1874

But quoting CSC crowds in this day and age is very much out of context

Anyway say hi to Paul Stockton for me, a lifelong friend xx

I don't think Witton are stupid enough not to ask for the cash up front this time especially what happened last time the Vics groundshared. In my view the Vics should have been wound up as they seem to continue to avoid paying the bills. Hopefully the 1874 Vics will return to Northwich but not with their ground built next to Witton's ground. So both Witton and 1874 Vics can complete at a decent level.
