Hannigan had my vote, and it’s richly deserved. But what’s this ‘young player’ award all about? Johnston’s in his mid 20s isn’t he? Seems a bit harsh he’s walked off with Jones’s young player award.

Think he's 23 so eligible

From a quick google search he’s 25 this year. However reliable that is, so I’ll take your word for it over that, and fair play to him in which case. Even if I’d have given it Jones personally.

For me, a young player is under 21.....after all, they have been playing for 12 years by then
-
I think James Lawrie won it when he was 24 too, so, I assume anyone under 25 is eligible, although the age limit has been controversial in the past as well.
I was another who voted for James Jones for what it's worth.

YPOTY should be 23 and under. To win it touching 25 is ludicrous, as good of a season as JJ has had. It’s an award that needs looking at.

Agreed. 25 is nearly half way through a footballers career! It’s the equivalent of me winning young wagon driver of the year at 43!

Funny we’re talking about negatives!
Hannigan deserved winner, best centre half we’ve had in many a year, won’t look out of place in the conference national.
JJ deserved winner, had his doubters but what an outlet he’s been, without him we’d be toothless.
Up the reds.

Given JJ was in the selection group, he was a worthy winner, but I voted for James Jones. In my book, the category should be for players who have been in the team for no more than two seasons.

I love John Laidlar's way of getting a point across within a simple innocent looking sentence;
"The Young Player of the Season was named as John Johnston (24). "
