Altrincham will be wondering how they let this game slip away from them as Exeter City stormed back from a goal down to earn a convincing win.
The home side went ahead in the 31st minute when Karl Munroe latched onto a Jake Sedgemore corner kick and placed his header into the top-right corner.
Altrincham maintained their lead heading into the break but were caught by surprise as Paul Tisdale's men came out a different side in the second-half.
A close range Matt Taylor effort levelled the scores and goals from Richard Logan, Steve Basham and Lee Elam completing the rout.
