And breathe. Stress levels off the scale, well done to each and everyone, now for the big one. Rest, get ready and go again....

Very sad news, I think every Alty fan knew George, he was always there from when I started going in the early 1970s. He'll certainly be missed by a huge number of people, RIP George.

The lad must be very upset how this all turned out, so unlucky with injuries then helplessly watching a premier league team slide so quickly. Thankfully he has his academic qualifications to fall back on, we all surely hope that he can keep fit and get some years behind him with a good league club.  All the best Duncan lad and if you get bored, you know where we are.

Another one gone far too soon,  many memories of that Wembley game, Mike you exorcised the ghosts of Wembley 1981 for me, thanks for the football, best to the family. x

I always found Stevenage to be one of the unfriendliest and miserable clubs to visit. Their stewards were utter arse*oles too, one occasion we arrived about 10 mins after kick off to find the away turnstiles closed, stewards let us in, clearly after pocketing our entrance money which between us didn't add up to the correct amount, another year after a reprieve from relegation we were slated by a pair of them asking "who's going to save you this year then?" Dismal, miserable new town dump.

Without being negative, although premium products are obviously high quality, they come at high quality prices. Many football fans just want a quick solid decently priced food fix, nowt fancy. By all means offer premium products for those happy to pay for them but not at the exclusion of your routine match grub for your regular punter.

Hi,

Does any older Alty fan have the programme for FA Cup round one replay: Wrexham v Altrincham, 1963, please?
Good price paid.
Thanks

Might be worth posting on the Wrexham forum, Red Passion, although you'll need to register.

If we're looking to quash inappropriate behaviour, we should maybe have a word with the one or two (adult) supporters among our cohort who insist on using the most offensive language to remonstrate with the referee, or oppo.  For many, their behaviour will be far more of an irritant, yet we seem to consider that just a normal part of the match day experience.

It's a football match you are going to hear some industrial language. I'd say however considerably less and certainly not threatening stuff like at many other places. 95% of the time the ground is safe and welcoming to all.

it just makes no sense at all. Such a pointless waste of a young life, RIP Jordan and so sorry to the family.

Would we even be permitted  to encroach into the car park behind the popular side, small as it is? The loss of even a few spaces can cause planning difficulties. If we could a decent stand along that side would transform the ground and provide sufficient increase in capacity for the long term, whatever that might turn out to be. Whatever is planned it is a fact that the current old girl is very dated and shabby, we need to move forward but please not a soulless plastic set of boxes.

Never got Rush despite being into Zeppelin and others. Always seemed a bit indulgent. Prefer the more blues rock line. I'll perhaps give them a listen maybe my tastes have matured a bit.

Is this the most off-topic Alty thread ever?

Devastating as that last minute blow was, what a continued comeback from just four years ago. As for the absolute sea change after Colchester. well I believe we have the right pair in the job to ensure we move forward from this instead of wallowing in defeat. What a great cup run, awareness, prestige, money et al, now then, up the table we will climb. Come on Alty!

The Lawrence is very good and that area of side streets has a lot of decent pubs. A bit further along the main road to The Sir Loin of Beef but it is a great pub, quirky, full of odd junk and usually has at least 4 decent ales on. The Phoenix is also very good. The Leopold Tavern used to be fantastic (nine non-mainstream cask ales) but the Pubco did the usual and priced the landlord out and I believe it is rather ordinary now but does have tellies for live sport.
Wouldn't recommend the spoons near Fratton Park (John Jacques) before the game, will have door staff, probably rammed with home fans.

Another stalwart from my early Alty supporting days passes. So long Stan, remembered as a feisty no nonsense defender. Never afraid to get stuck in however that is defined. Sure he was instrumental in the eventual mass brawl in the home game v Mossley when we were losing 4-1 (I think) before we won the leg 5-4 after some shall we say, reorganisation. Stuff of memories. A good lad.
