Title: Triallists
Post by: MarpleAlty on July 28, 2021, 02:13:28 PM
Looks like we've boiled down to three from the initial bunch:

- David Fitzpatrick
- Ben Pringle
- James Berry

I wonder if we're still looking at Alex Brown? He looked pretty decent according to those that went to Ashton, but we won't be the only option he would have been considering.

Hope the above lads continue to impress and they like what they see from us.

How has Fitzpatrick performed?
I remember him being very good at Macc and a friend who watches Macc said he would be a very good signing. Very calm and hardly puts a foot wrong.

All three trialists at LB seem to have been promising. If we're only signing one, I would have said it had to be Fitzpatrick.

Senior will learn a lot from him too which is a bonus.

Having seen the 3 of them just briefly in the Nantwich match. I would say all three of them could be an asset for us for the next campaign. Pringle and Fitzpatrick especially have the experience which is no bad thing, and young James Berry has promise.

Onwards & Upwards

May have missed this but is James Berry the former Hull player? 20 years old?

If so he looks decent on YouTube.

Let's hope he's still in the mix and gets a good run out this afternoon.
Could he be the other striker we're needing? Or are we looking elsewhere as well?

On a tangential note, I wouldn't be surprised if several of the squad who will be struggling for match time will be going out on loan to tick down the last twelve months of their contracts. What do others think?

Also Fitzpatrick has signed. I am hoping my pigeon is on ball.

Re the trialists one thought is given the expense and the overnight stay from yesterday’s game, it’s a fair bet that whoever came down and played a part in the game must be staying. So Pringle from Morecambe & Fitzpatrick from Port Vale. Both seem steady & very experienced players so fair enough from me.

My thinking, too. Doubt you're involved in a bit of a 'bonding' weekend if you're not going to be here for the season.

It's also a massive waste of their time if not.

With the EFL starting this week, should be a few lads not involved in initial sqauds whose head might start looking for loan moves by the time we visit Torquay.
