The last prediction was probably the most accurate.

As I recall, we signed the diminutive winger Graham Heys from Macc early in 1978, by which time he was already cup-tied and, therefore, ineligible to play in our FA Trophy fixtures.
He emigrated to Australia early in the 1978/79 NPL season (and according to a Macc Town website), "playing there for the following 10 years - Newcastle KB United (1979-1981), West Adelaide (1982-1983), Preston Makedonia (1984-1986), Melbourne Knights (1987-1988), Mooroolbark (1990-91) and Croydon City (1992)."

I remember him being described in 1978 as "one for the future" but I don't think that was intended as a future in Australia!
There is an odd link there to more recent players as Preston Makedonia are now Preston Lions, playing at a lower level than in the eighties, and they are the club James Poole joined when he went to Australia.
