Just when you think you've been on here long enough not to be shocked, you get a belter like this.

Footballer/Manager in summer holiday before pre season shocker.

Do you seriously think that the reason we didn 't sign Danny Glover is because the manager had a holiday?

Did we even go for him? Could we afford him?

Do you think the assistant manager could have dealt with it?

the close season is a ridiculous time for the manager to be on holiday, surely he can wait until the season starts before going away?

it is a ridiculous time to be going on holiday when you have only been in the job a couple of weeks and dont have enough players to put a team out

As he's only been in the job a couple of weeks he probably booked it before he knew he had the job!

"Hello, is that Thomas Cook ? I'm going to have to cancel my holiday, despite the fact the wife is threatening to leave me and the kids are in floods of tears, only I've just taken on a job running a part-time football club................."

I think the combination of Neil Tolson and a mobile phone should get over the incredible situation of a close season holiday.

Although thinking about it, I think its time he went to be honest.  The holiday was the straw that broke the camels back.

Now then..Sammy McIlroy...

Where's the fire? We have already signed 5 players since Lee became manager and have a squad taking shape which presently consists of 14 players.

Compare this to Hyde who currently have about 3 players, 1 of which Gary Lowe has said is likely to be staying.

I think your way off the mark there John.  I am sure he would have briefed his staff to tie up any loose ends prior to him being away.  It was only forum speculation that talk of Glover ever occured anyway..

I think it is a real sign of the times Altrincham being compared to Hyde United

Looks like something a bit deeper going on here..no one is this upset about a manager taking a close season holiday.
