yeh i quite like it
but unfortunately heathcote will not play it, lets be honest
i think we all know we're not particularly adventurous formation wise...but
based on that formation i'd also like to see

                                         Coburn
Lane                                  Tinson                                  Munroe

                                          Owen

Senior/Potts       Lawton            Sedgemore       Whalley

                                    Little                 O'neil

Just think that wel benefit from whalleys left foot more on the wing and think it would be worth a try because hes obviously very weak and doesnt tackle much and therefore wouldnt be worth playing in the middle...also, this puts lawton in the centre where i prefer him and senior would be playing on his favoured foot
Additional thoughts?

It gives Owen a lot to do. I'm not sure he's got the legs for it. I would definitely play Potts on the wing.

lawton could quite comfortably help val out
hes an extremely fit lad and can run all day
just the effort needed to help him out

Looks good going forwards and gets all our best players on the pitch but I think with Whalley or Senior on the left and only Munroe behind either of them and also covering centre back I think we would get ripped apart down that flank.  Potentially the same problem on the right with Potts / senior and no full back behind them.

Personally it leaves us too exposed on the wings, playing Munroe with Senior in midfield leaves Karl with little cover. Not sure if playing Lane on the right of a three would work. I'd stick to 4-4-2, the players know the system. Not a good idea to change after playing it all pre-season.

Is Scotty fit? If not I think we'll see this

                                 Coburn

Lane          Munroe               Tinson                  Aspinall/Scott (if fit)

Lawton     Sedgemore         Whalley                   Senior

                Little                    O'Neill

Maybe play Coo at left back? Controversial I know!!

well the formation i suggested is pretty academic anyway...wel never play it...would choose peyton or scotty at left back.
midfield a major dilemma for me.
centre:
val and sedge?
whalley and sedge (too similar?)
whalley and val?
lawton and whalley?
lawton and val?
lawton and sedge?

wings:
peyton/potts/senior/whalley/lawton etc?????????

How you can say that Whalley is quite weak?

Our major problem is that we have had no creative players and the midfield has not linked up with the front two. This leaves Joe up front to control the ball with Colin ahead of him.

Now we have the option to lay the ball back to someone who I belive will carve defenses apart with his passing provided we can get Joe and Col to work on the same wavelength which will take time and we not see the true potential until mid November perhaps here.

Playing him on the wing will not work as he is not a runner, he is creative not a dribbler.

Give Whalley time and you will see he is a class act.

Also how can you say we should play 3 at the back? We need 10 at the back not 3, but i will settle for 4. Val is in his last season in my mind and the sedge will come through here and this then leaves us with in my opinion robbie still out on the right to give us the best options with pottsy coming on in the second half maybe then robbie to come inside.

every one fit starting 4 in midfield would be imo

right -llawton with potts coming on later
middle-whalley-
middle -sedgemore
left-senior or thornley

Lawton on the RW! This is a complete waste of a player, if you want a winger play Senior or Potts. If Lawton is to catch the team he has to play centre mid.

he plays on the right hand side of midfielde  as he can get up and down the pitch and help the right back , i agree he is best in centre but still cant see potts on from the start against the quality of exeter -will see though

IMO at least we have some options now.
Better than having one player for each position and struggling.
Seems like if things do go pear shaped early on there will be opportunities to change things.

My thoughts exactly,
We have alot of options and variety in the midfield area
It could be this flexibiblity that keeps us up this year
It is very important to be able to switch things around if things arent going well and now we've got the option to change the game plan without making any subs which may be particularly important away from home and may improve our away record.
