We've had more fkn reprieves than Gary Gilmore - and it's embarrassing that we are now better known for THAT than for our glorious history   

So what if we have had more reprieves than Gary Gilmore.

Why should it be embarrassing to say yes we have been repreived because we are a part time club who pay their debts, trying to pay our way in a primarily full time league when all around there are teams who are not prepared to live within their means and seek to screw the taxman and other creditors ?

It's those clubs who should be embarrassed and ashamed.

Our predicament and reprieves ARE part of our glorious history.That's why we are Altrincham Football Club.

The fact is, that at the moment we are not good enough for this league. We have not done good enough against other part time teams on small budgets and we deserve to go down.

We have not even finished 4th bottom!

How would people feel if we were, hypothetically, to get another 7 reprieves in the next 10 years? Would it still be a proud part of our history then?

Every club is going to be seeing us as a joke team if we get many more.

Hypothetically it would mean that 7 other clubs have been living beyond their means, and yes I'd take it every time until some of these other clubs begin to realise the error of their ways.

I'd take it, but it wouldn't sit comfortably (hang on a minute, where've I heard that before?). It is embarrassing. Yes, other clubs should live within their means, but do you really think that's how most people will view it? Even over here in Ireland, anyone that knows the name of Altrincham tends to associate it with end of season houdini acts and no longer our proud tradition. There is no honour in that form of survival.

If Plymouth and Rushden went and we stayed up I wouldnt give a TOSS what other fans/clubs think, as we achieved whatever place we did WITHOUT living beyond our means temporarily,.....cheating actually in my view. And if we did, and as a result Alty performed better next years (big iffs I know) wouldnt you just love the reactions we would get fromother clubs/fans then eh

If we hadn't played by the  rules, Alty could have finished better than 3rd bottom.
But we can always hold are head high.

I'm fed up of this argument now. What happens if all your masterplans to get a team playing Brazilian football and blitz the BSP in 3/4 years time doesn't work? Where will we be then? Facing relegation to Evostik League, that's where. If other clubs want to cheat, let them- but we can't say we didnt let them know and rules are rules, if them rules mean relegation for other clubs, so be it.
