To be honest I'm f**king delighted. I felt certain after Shaun picked up the Man of the Match award for England C that he'd be off. Dale staying too, and Welchy if fit.

The 'Cote seemed to say that we'd have to rely on loans to plug the gaps as if it was a bad thing. A couple of loanees of Shotton's standard and we'll be laughing - top half here we come!

Yes, we've got to expect another good season from Densmore in particular will result in him (deservedly) moving upwards and we should be savvy enough to cash in if we can when that happens.

I am delighted we have managed to keep the core of the squad together. If we can impove our midfield/attack by the same level that we improved our defence last season we could be onto something quite special.

As delighted as I am that we've retained Densmore I think keeping Smith is just as important.

I thought Dale probably needed another year to improve his goal ratio, but I'm genuinely surprised (and chuffed) Densmore is still here. His only flaw that I can identify is he can pick up some daft bookings. If he improves his discipline he could be at a level where I'd think "I actually wouldn't swap this lad for anyone else in his position in the BSP".

I keep thinking back to that article in the NLP where Densmore stated his desire to play at a higher level, possibly with Altrincham.

This guy has a first class attitude and if he can just iron out the little flaws in his game he has a very bright future indeed!
