Which Alty players could do a job for the England team?

Just a thought. If you put one Alty player in the England team, who would do a job or at least not look totally out of place? I can't help thinking that several England players don't look that much better than some Alty players. Of course they have more routine and better fitness, but in terms of talent, I don't see that much of a gulf if you compare some players directly.

I would say the best candidates for England would be Luca - assuming he didn't get picked for Italy- (maybe a little slow), Clee or Lawrie.
Densmore is probably a better bet than Glen Johnson at right back.

I thought we already had England's number one?!!

My housemate's guide dog is a better bet than Johnson.

I think full back would be the best position to hide them, although they are becoming more important these days, some quite limited footballers have played well for a period there.  Given that I'd pick Densmore.

However, even if you take fitness out of it I think the gap in technique and tactically would be considerable and obvious to an outsider within a half or so.

always thought Stuart would not look out of place in the premiership.

what England need is a striker who scores when he wants.....

Stick Duncan Watmore in and he'd have an impact and he wouldn't be caught 3 in a bed ordering a £200 pack of cigarettes....

Back in the day the likes of the 'cote, kingy, Barry Howard, JR, Showler, McKenna and a few others would all have done a job for England

Considering the fact that Lawrie already has 3 caps for Northern Ireland, I think he'd struggle to fit in for England  ;D

They would all look completely out of their depth.

I'm sorry, but there, I've said it!    :)

Let's hope they're giving Oxlade-Chamberlain a rub down with an oily rag!

Assume this is a "close season"  thread as the real answer quite clearly is none.

Somebody could do the counting for Rooney.  "One boot, two boots. Yes Wayne they're all there."

Am I alone in having next to interest in the World Cup? I can honestly say that apart from Italy I don't know who else is in Englands group. I think it starts on Thursday, no idea who's playing, kick off times.  Four years ago and at previous World Cups I'd have known all this.  I'm 48 - is this an age thing, or are others feeling the same way?
