Did to a lack of full backs I think a 3-5-2 would be our best option
Thompson
Jones Harrison Hannigan
Peers Taylor Moult Sheridan Hancock
Poole Hulme
Abbey Hey 0-2 Alty
Hopefully the 3K prize money can be used to get some cover in.
-
Hoping short and Densmore are available. Although we may need to keep them rested for lancaster on Tuesday, should it go ahead

Densmore was optimistic after Monday's game, but apart from Deasy we'll have trouble naming a bench that doesn't largely comprise the walking wounded.
We can't even resort to recalling Omotola, since someone made yet another gaffe in allowing him to become cup tied.

I'm not sure changing formation is the best way to go when we are getting settled into some kind of form. Keep the centre back partnership going as a two so they continue to improve.
Coping with a couple of square pegs in round holes (to a certain extent) in this game should be achievable.
-
Four at the back, if the three full backs and Richmam aren't going to be fit it might worth trying to bring a full back in on loan although must clubs wont want anyone cup tied
-
VThompson
Moult Jones Harrison Hannigan
Peers Taylor Sherridan Hancock
Hulme Poole
-
If Densmore is fit, put him in at right back, then Moult for Taylor and we're in business.
-
We've played 4-2-3-1 (or what looks like it to me) in practically every game under Parkinson and I don't see that changing while the lads are still clicking into place. Where possible, we'll see the same players in the same usual positions - it's a bit of a jigsaw at the back though and it'll be touch and go until 2:00 before we know where we are with the defence.

A fairly recent review of the ground for those that have not been before. Should be a healthy crowd for abbey hey considering how local it is and how many of our supporters have such an affinity with the FA Cup. Think the capacity of the ground is only around 1,000

That's a very misleading headline; it makes it sound as if we will be making FA Cup history by avoiding an upset. Of course you could argue that everything and anything you do is creating history.
We can't lose this.....can we?

We can if we dont turn up , if it happens it would potentailly be the worst result in our history ?

History offers you a couple of contenders: FA Cup 1Q 1960 - Earlestown 4 Altrincham 3; and my personal "favourite" in this category, FA Trophy 3Q Dec 1973 - Altrincham 0 Pwllheli & District 1.
Having been at Brantingham Rd on Monday evening I would say first that the best goal of the game was he one not filmed (Maine Road's 93rd minute screamer from about 20 yards which should have set up a grandstand finish but didn't) & second that 19 times out of 20 we should beat Abbey Hey (& we shouldn't lose the 20th) but on the day it's 11v11 & all the other clichés you care to name ...

I remember the Pwehelli game as a result, I was at school, wasn't it played midweek during the afternoon, miners strike possibly? There was quite a stir after it and if I recall the attendance was about 500, reckon we'd take that for a midweek afternoon game now

Wednesday December 5th 1973 - afternoon kick-off due to power emergency (the same reason as for the early kick-offs v Blackburn in the Cup later that month); attendance 588. I was at Uni at the time & remember not believing the score when I first saw it in the newspaper.

Those driving to the match should avoid Old Trafford. United v Barcelona Legends 3pm kick off.

I know the ground. Easiest way is to go round on the M60 and come off at the Denton exit, avoiding Manchester/ Old Trafford etc

For anyone going by tram and train, you can buy and any tram/train ticket from metrolink machines for 8 quid (adult)

It's cheaper to buy seperate, Altrincham to Piccadilly return £4.60, Piccadilly to Ryder Brow return £2.80 = £7.40
-
What if you don't live in Altrincham but else where in the GMPTE region?
-
I assume we have agreed to the decision to let Manchester United and city season ticket holders in for half price? With the stadium only having a capacity of 1,000 and us likely to take several hundred i hope this has been thought out Properly and no proper fans miss out if the uptake is brisk

My fix of FA cup football today will consist of me watching Haughmond who play in the midland football league prem Div v Matlock town.
Haughmond play on a very good pitch with decent surrounds at the sports village in Shrewsbury, just a ten minute drive from my house
-
3-0 up in first 25 minutes very professional performance so far
Could be a cricket score for Alty on current viewing.
-
That cricket score then...oh dear.
-
Any news on Poole and Harrison's injuries?
-
That cricket score then...oh dear.
Ha Ha oh dear me and my big gob.
-
Yet another new low and a load of injuries to boot. Complete and utter shambles.
-
We are still in the hat . Must win tuesday
-
Two positives, we get to fight another day, and we don't have to play lancaster on Tuesday. Three players off injured again. We've plenty of decent players but not enough guile, such a fragile team, need to sign a couple of Warriors. They were dogsh*t and didn't have a shot in the second half. Unacceptable, but be thankful we are still in the cup because we could be sat here in the back of the worst result in our history, and that from being 0-3 infront
-
Well done Abbey Hey - can't begrudge them the draw and replay. They exploited our defensive fragility, injuries, wastefulness in front of goal, appalling refereeing and inability to create anything meaningful without James Poole on the pitch. I'd love to hear anyone from Altrincham try and talk that performance up. We were sh*te.

What's really grim is the fact that this could accurately have been said about the last 3 seasons.

Things could be worse folks I have just seen Haughmond beat Matlock with the last kick of the game 3-2.
Haughmond went 2-0 and bossed it in the first half. Matlock came back in the second only to be thwarted with Haughmond's only real effort on goal in the second half...
See you Tuesday night
-
We need to sign a keeper as a priority..
That display today was worse than dawber...
Was it paul collins gifted guiseley a trophy win once?
-
It's the defending that's clearly the big problem. We have numerous defenders who are rated and proven at this level and higher but every time the opposition gets a FK or corner near our goal you assume the worst. At the moment appears we need to score 2-3 a game to get a result. Neither GK on the books particularly inspires any confidence. Possibly the replay a blessing in disguise as now a full week before the next league game-imperative we play the loan market in the meantime.
-
1874 fan comes in peace. Serious question folks why the very low attendance for the game today?
-

what was the attendance ?
-
I'd guess 100 home fans...300 alty?
They'll announce 198?
Very fair the £5 entry...
-
This team needs a Val Owen or an Eddie Hussin type player, but then again I've been saying that for about ten years.
-
Attendance declared as 371
-

lots of people away and fed up . 300 away is prerty decent tbf
-
Official crowd was 371 as per NWCL website. I thought it might have been a few more but won't argue.
The earlier post about the defending was correct. I think Abbey had 2 shots in the first half, and none in the second before the penalty, but they had a great chance to actuallly win the game afterwards.
All credit to Abbey Hey for keeping on plugging away, but, stating the obvious, we really, really should not have let slip a 3 goal lead.
I am confident we won't make the same mistake on Tuesday.
-
300 Alty there at the very least.
Still can't wrap my head around that today. Stunned.
-
We should have been 5-0 up before they scored. The moment James Poole limped off we fell apart. Very disappointed tonight.
-
Fragile doesn't get anywhere near how we are. 3-0 in front and it could have been 6.
Jones was desperately poor and at fault for 1st and 3rd. Thompson howler for the 2nd.
Short looked like he was struggling his entire time on the pitch.
If it wasn't for the money I'd fuk Tuesday off
-
No turnstile, no counting between conscessuon adultt etc..
Draw your own conclusions
-
Without James Poole we have no plan B
-
Would we have back from being 3-0 down after 25 mins?
I can't see it?
