I was interested to see Stockport at York steadfastly avoiding passing the ball back to the goalkeeper, even when under severe pressure. We do take too many chances passing it back.

That is the way the defenders are instructed to play by Phil Parkinson. Launch it long as a last resort.

Sad news about Drench.
Not a good day for Hannigan. Stood down for 2 games due to concussiom protocol plus needed stitches in his chin. 3 game ban for red card. Wife had to drive from Wirral with baby plus friend who had  drive Tom's car home for him.

Their website has no information at all regarding away supporters, don't know whether
we are supposed to go to Chorley to buy tickets or take a chance on the day and maybe
not get in.

I rang Chorley FC.. The man I spoke to was apologetic for not having much information but I thought he was very helpful. There will almost certainly be segregation with Alty fans paying at the turnstile. They are selling tickets in advance for seated areas only and don't have time to print tickets for the terraces anyway. They aren't expecting a sell out so he put my mind at rest that there will be no problem with getting in.

A few years back Fylde just missed out in promotion to Barrow on the last day. They promptly lost over 2 legs to Guiseley who finished 15 points behind Fylde. Tom Hannigan said they had nothing left to give. The team with energy and desire will prevail. Chorley may find it hard to go again.

I always thought that but it doesn't specify.

The National League website doesn't state the venue for the final.

No great surprise. Oldham, Rochdale and Bury off.

Don't the covers have to come off early to let the pitch breathe?

Ceesay had a decent first half.

We were so slow going forward. Moult is looking very tired and slow again. As soon as he got on the ball they had all their players back in position.

JJ's final ball continues to be poor and it baffles me that he takes corners. On that note our set pieces are awful.

Again we looked tired and they had far more energy. I would consider Richman and Williams in the middle of the park for a couple of games or go to three in there until Jordan returns.

Hancock had his worst game but he has been class so he was due an off game.

Hannigan may have misplaced a touch for their first, I missed this, but he was by far our best player last night.

The heavy touch by Hannigan forced him to play it back to Drench rather than run out with the ball. So that was before the clearance from the keeper, not after it.

I would think a big benefit of being full time is that players can recover better between games. If they have to get up and go to work every day in addition to playing football, it's not ideal.

The best part time players are much better than the worst full time. There are plenty of part timers with good jobs who can't afford to go full time at this level.

1.   Hannigan: For me, he stands head and shoulders above everyone else as our most naturally gifted footballer. Finally getting a chance to show what he’s all about since we got a proper physio in. Which is clearly no coincidence.

2.   Daylight

3.   Moult: His re-emergence as a proper midfielder has been as spectacular, sudden and surprising as his decline was a couple of seasons ago. Let’s just hope he never has to go back to Colchester.

With an honourable mention for Owen Dale who, in 3 months, turned us from midtable inconsistency to touching distance of top spot. There has been a noticeable turn in our fortunes since he returned to Crewe.

When Hannigan suffered his original injury the rehab he received was very poor. This was compounded by the various  management teams in 2016/17 persuading him to play when nowhere near fit,  no doubt desperate to save their jobs. It was no surprise that he broke down again and suffered other related injuries. It was only once Parkinson took over that he was sent for a scan which diagnosed muscle wastage around the knee but no long term problem. Now restored to full fitness after playing about 40 games since the business end of last season.

Any reason for so may changes in the line up today ?
I know that Tom Hannigan has been off work with real flu not the man flu type. He didn't train Thursday or travel today.
