The illness was never properly disclosed, but I have to admit I thought at the time that it sounded potentially fatal. Very sad indeed.

It's no age, and in Brian Clough terms, the greatest centre half England never had (well, he definitely had potential to be better than Terry, Ferdinand and Campbell)
