Sends out completely the wrong message this. Should be discounted coach travel subsidised by the fee received  for agreeing to switch the fixture to a silly time rather than encouraging people not to go FFS. We should be doing all we can to get supporters to the tie rather than worry about selling a few sandwich’s

I hope people who were considering getting behind the lads don't use this as an easy out.

I would imagine that people who weren't going had already decided to watch it on TV at home, so I can't see this decision changing anything.

There will have been many people who were considering but have decided against it for ease of not having to travel

It's not about those that were definitely going or not going to go. It's the middle band of fans. Club should have encouraged more fans with discounted travel or spoken to one of top tier sponsors such as FA or the new suit/ clothing sponsor and asked them put money in for a one off cup game.

Its not the cup final yet!

Its an early qualifying round that we should expect to win - although I've witnessed a loss in the cup/trophy at Trafford FC before that was pretty disgraceful!

It's not always about being able to follow the club home and away. I have always enjoyed following them at away matches for many seasons. However, I have been unemployed for the last 3-4 months, and have only recently started full time work again. I am still having to right our finances and for now, have had to put on an embargo on visiting away matches. The recent Chester one was different, because my wife Carys was visiting her mum in Broughton so I was able to go. I thought I was even going to struggle going to home games but I am now working, so we are ok for now.

So while I would love to go to away games again, I cannot do so and I miss going. I was intending to try and watch it at home on TV, unless we have access problems via our online and TV sources. It is good to know the club is now an option for me.  This being the case I am glad the club is doing this as it is another option for me if I cannot watch at home.

I will continue to attend home games and I will go to some away games again when our finances improve. Thanks to the club, I will definitely be able to see the game now, even if I'm not able to at home. For that I am very grateful, as the club is considering ALL it's supporters. Not everybody has the options that other fans may have.

It's less far from Broseley! I'll be there. It will be half time in 24 hours from now. That's not the way it should be. It's lunchtime.

My original plan was to go down today, and visit some of my favourite Black Country boozers tonight (particularly the Vine in Brierley Hill) but I can't shake my cold off, so it's the red button from the comfort of my chair I'm afraid.

Well done lads, into the draw for the next round.
Looked good passing the ball around nicely.

Who the hell is Ashmore?! :P

Quality lads. Watched in Lisbon.

Hulme wasn't in the game. Peers caused them problems and got a well deserved goal.

James Jones and Hemmings both looked quality on TV.

Great saves by Thompson.

Keep playing in the red and white.

It was a case of being patient and wearing Halesowen down. Fair play to them though, their heads didn't drop. Ash and James Jones were superb and Sean Williams added some more urgency to the midfield when he came on. Come on you reds!

Solid performance against a decent Halesowen side.
I thought Willow was very good when he came on

Ashmore was the Halesowen number 12 who apparently came on for Richman

Very much a job done kind of day. It was Halesowen’s cup final so it was always going to be a tough day but we opened them up throughout whereas their best chances were set pieces and long rangers. 2-0 for me a fair reflection & now to see who we get on Monday. On a side note for that level that’s an excellent ground & the local pubs superb too. If only they had a train station in the town.

My MOM was "Jamie Jones". The BBC thanked Flynny for giving them background on our team - Flynn out !

FYI....that wasn't part of the information that I supplied to the BBC.
I'm fairly sure that James Jones was referred to as  'Jamie' during his very early days with us, therefore it is possible that his real name is 'Jamie' i.e. what is on his birth certificate.

James Lawrie was also referred to as 'Jamie' during his early weeks at the club but that changed fairly quickly, therefore perhaps his real name is also 'Jamie'. ???

Brian,

At varying times during the match we had Jamie Johnson, Jamie Jones, Sean Williams was consistently referred to as Ashmore and Densmore was often called Jonhson even when JJ had swapped wings to the other side and was nowhere near the incident!  I don't think it was your info that was the issue or that the commentator did his own research on James' birth certificate - it is more likely he didn't do enough homework.  Commentary was also noticeably worse than almost all our Radio Robins guys.  He refused to interrupt his own anecdotes and stats about what the clubs have achieved decades ago to make any comment when chances were created mid-story.  I thought he was very poor.

Agreed. As ever the BBC came across 2nd rate as if the coverage was just tokenism.

Is there a link anywhere to watch the game? I was flying from LAX to Brisbane on Saturday hence was unable to watch live. I can’t get BBC iPlayer to work here, so looking for something on YouTube or similar. Such as Alty TV!

Was at the game but recorded it and to be honest the commentary was dire.
Referring to Sean Williams as Ashmore was I presume confusing the two number
twelves but it wasn't corrected as the game went on. Probably not helped by the
fact that the commentary team were apparently not at the game but back at
headquarters at Salford Quays. Otherwise a good day out and a great result.
