Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Keepeer and stewards
« on: February 07, 2007, 03:03:25 PM »
The behaviour of a small minority of the small number of Alty fans at the end was digusting i was ashamed to be an Alty fan, I think the stewards did a good job and the fans who went on the pitch are lucky that mersyside police were not present or they would be having free b&b in Southport tonight.
I was speaking to there stewards before the match and praising how Alty fans behave themselves and don't cause trouble apart from a bit of goading which always go on.How wrong was i. Thanks for making Altrincham fc look txxts.
I hope your proud.

Handbags to be honest Darren, I'm not ashamed to be an Alty fan.

We were alright during the game and friendly enough with the stewards. A couple of people got too wound up by the keeper and whoever spat at him needs to get a grip but other than that individual, fine.

The keeper was a f**king disgrace, that was way over the top the goading. Now I generally don't care about getting 2 fingers from a keeper, you have to be able to take what you give out, I wasn't arsed at Stafford when their keeper turned round and gave us a big 'yes' before disappearing of. But this lad continued with it for quite a while. And you know why Darren, cos the little sh*thouse knew that there were stewards there, he wasn't arsed if he caused any aggro between stewards and fans who'd been fine all game. He's quite happy to put an unpaid volunteer on the line for him - thats why hes a disgrace and I tols the Alexie Sayle steward that meself. He wasn't too bothered by us but I told him to get hold of the keeper cos if he thinks he can do that to York or Oxford there'll be mayhem.  Did you see him when it looked like there weren't enough stewards to stop the odd fan, his face turned white and he pegged it off. Don't go overreacting to Saturday. We were all a bit het up and it was a little bit more heated than at most Alty games but it was contained.

Wait till next week when a bucnch of chavs who've attached themselves to York are trying to stage pitch invasions then you'll know whatr T**ts are and why Saturday isn't so bad. And don't panic, I don't gloss over things and says things don't happen but I'm really more embarrassed by the loss on Saturday than any fans reactions. End of.

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Reserves tonight...
« on: February 01, 2007, 12:21:37 PM »
I didn't bother to put it but I was actually going to mention I thought he did a fair bit of tracking back, especially after the young quick coloured lads came on in the second half and started sort of doing his attacking, weel it cuaght my eye on at least one occasion anyway.

Surprising what you see when you watch a game with an open mind without having a strict viewpoint on a player.

Also, noticed he was getting into his position to get the ball but it was taking forever to get out to him. Generally the idea with out and out wingers is when you get the ball get it out to them rapid so they can run at the full back. Last night it generally seemed to be players (full backs) etc hanging on to the ball (why?) and then playing it out to him, by which time there were 3 players to contend with rather than one, thus he kept on running inside.

Was much the same on his last 1st team appearance I saw, team doesn't play to his strengths. Can moan at him for not being able to deal with that the way, say, Robbie Lawton does but I don't think that's why he was signed. I think the Justin Bowler we saw at the start of pre-season would be a huge asset late on in games nowadays.

Having said all that I honestly haven't seen that much of him recently but reserve games aren't an accurate reflection of first team football at any level. Last time I went a reserves game Bushell, Little and Potts were playing and all 3 played like a pile of wank  ???

Bowler played well if anyones wondering. Ran at people a lot and generally looked more purposeful than he has been doing.

« on: January 27, 2007, 08:10:51 PM »
I've no problems with the result, I think our 2nd half performance merited a point definately but..... we gave away a sh*t sloppy goal just like we did against Burton, FGR, Rushden and it knocked the wind out of our sails for pretty much most of the 1st half. We really went at them in the 2nd but give away sh*t goals and only apply pressure for half a game you'll never win.

Kiddy looked confident, more so after the goal, a little nervy once we realised that we may have more joy againsth Creighton and co on the floor, Bevan was top class (I think you're confusing lucky with commanding), sensed after the rebound off the post and then the goalmouth scramble that it wasn't our day and they time wasted a bit in the alst 15 but no one ever said you had tyo win 3-0 away from home, if we were solid enough to withstand pressure like that away from home we'd be midtable.

It could be Sammy McIlroys fault to be fair.

Because he is a wanker  ;D

On Soccer Saturdya last week, the Woking goal didn't appear. The list of conf scores at the side had us 0-0 and nothing had come up on the scorers bit at the bottom ( I was watching the 2nd half scores pretty closely on staurday too, I didn't leave the room for a minute or owt like that).

Then Woking 2 McAllister 76 Altrincham 0 came up  >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

The side scores still had it as 0-0 until the final results were read out >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

I didn't have to text anyone or get on the internet to check whether it actually was 0-2 or not  ???

« on: January 22, 2007, 05:18:49 PM »
Well after yesterday, this is how I think we'll go on

Kiddy WIN (they are on a good run,but we can beat anyone at home, and I feel we will win) - No Nasha
Southport DRAW (similar to last season,a game neither side can afford to lose) - Maybe
York DRAW (big games usually bring big performances.Donaldson may also be out through suspension,so we may even nick a win)-Just our luck Donaldson is suspended for the next 3 games, he comes back for the game at Moss Lane
Northwich WIN (it would be typical Alty to win away for a game like this) - it would also be typical of us to f**k it up
Crawley LOSE (and it would be typical Alty to get peoples confidence up) - 0-2 to the cheating lying crawley charlatans

LOSE
DRAW
LOSE
DRAW (Maybe)
LOSE

Please God if we only win 1 away game this season make it Southport or stalbuns or tamuff

Altrincham FC First Team / Ex Bury winger dies
« on: January 22, 2007, 05:05:51 PM »
Not necessarily news in itself but apparently he used to play for us in years gone by. Anyone know anything?#

Ex-Bury and U's winger has died
Winger Bobby Dale, who played for Bury and Colchester United in the 1950s, has died at the age of 75.
The Shakers website reports that he passed away last week after suffering with cancer for a long time.

Born in Irlam, Dale joined Bury from non-League Altrincham in 1951, and scored two goals in 15 appearances before moving to Colchester in 1953.

He then made 128 appearances for the U's before his football career was ended by tuberculosis in 1958.

A mixture of sadness...

...and relief that Geoff will be around for another year to steer the good ship Alty, we won't find another chairman as good as Geoff but I hope a lot of critical thought is put in to who will take over. This decision is too important to get wrong, personally I wouldn't want anyone from outside the club (for reasons I don't want on the forum)

Altrincham FC First Team / Fao Rod Thornley re David Beckham
« on: January 16, 2007, 11:36:36 PM »
I see your mate is going to be without a game for the rest of this season and he wouldn't want to turn up to MLS unfit and lacking match practice would he?

Tell him to come and join us on loan (International clearance permitting ::), he can wander about on Dennis's flank and be a class above. It's close to his old home, your his mate and he's been here before.

Also, it would have the added bonus of making him totally look a man of the people/family values etc which would endear him more 'i alwas enjoyed coming down to Alty, the people were really friendly to me when I filmed an adidas advert, Rods a great mate This is a good oppo to keep me ticking over and I hope it helps a small club to attract a few more fans. I've always thought the grass roots is important to football, that's why I've set up my soccer schools etc'

Playing in England a little bit may even help him get his England place back  ;)

I think Robbie is better in the centre than on the right  :)incidentally

Altrincham FC First Team / Barnet video
« on: January 15, 2007, 11:29:28 PM »
This was meant to be a private message but sod it, I haven't got a Barnet video and it's eaten away at me for 15 years, I've only ever seen the video once (when me and Alex wathced it at your gaff Ecky) and I want the bastard thing on dvd!!!! :o :o

Also, if we got the Barnet game copied up onto dvd we'd shift a thousand I tell you! I'd have two and Alec and Fletch want one, I'm sure all the video owners would want a dvd copy,

so Grahame if you'll allow me (p.s everyone if this breaches any copyright laws you ain't seen this right!) ;)

If anyone has a copy of the Barnet game or the Wembley finals I'd gladly get them copied to DVD - let me know.

Also if there are any other videos around can do the same.

Thanks for the ideas

Grahame

Unemployed Coalminer

A couple of points

1) 2 matches a week are not beneficial for a part time side in a full time league. Full time players with knocks get round the clock massage and treatment, they don't work and they travel down in comfort, a day off here a golf day there. Our lads with knocks have to go to work, even if they have a calf strain and if that involves sitting at a desk 9-5 or carrying carpets or something up flights of stairs then they still have to do it. We need 1 game a week, not every 2 weeks as we lose sharpness but no more than twice a week really. Do you think Eddie Hussin would have taken nigh on 2 years to recover had he been a full time footballer?

2) I think, I think I know what you are getting at (you haven't expressed it well) in that last season when we were getting beat 0-5 we jsyt said oh well what do you expect? I argued then that we could put up more fight and now we do. i don't think anyone is chuffed at getting beat by Tamworth but just rightly saying that its more improtant we stay up and at least if there is a good side to it we can concentrate on that now. You go on about £4,000, for Gods sake man we take that much extra almost in gate receipts for each Conf Nat game compared to Conf North.

3) A cup run every so often is essential, we haven't woken up the towns people, our achievements over the past few years have been massive but not realised. Now we are in a good league with attractive fixtures, is the time to try and capitalise on that. Those cup tie supporters are far more likely to come to the next game if it's against York City rather than Hucknall. However, it's bloody difficult. We've had some poor draws really, last home tie against lower league oppo? I wasn't at the game Stadee but all I can say is that Tamworth were a far tougher nut to crack at ML than they were when we beat thm in the league.

4) You would rather see us competitive in conf North. Fine, but why, surely the point of winning games there qwould be to get promoted here otherwise it's a hollow victory no?

5) Do you really think anyone at the club is trying to stand still? Seriously, fr Gods sake, we've strengthened the squad over the summer, we're a slightly better side, almost mid table as opposed to truly in teh bottom reaches. We just need to clear our debts. That £4k would have gone to them, once we're clear that would pay for a good left back for the rest of the season. It's just not particularly possible. Why do you think we're extending our community work? Why are we looking at redeveloping the ground? Why have we extended the playing budget from last year.

6) AND FINALLY, if I can be brutally honest, I think you're a bit weird. You say you've been to 33+ games last year whilst on confguide saying you just don't go anymore. I don't really know which, thats up to you but we'll say you've watched however amny games it is throughout the years. Well, if you have an argument to point out, I suggest you dn't fill it with utter sh*te like you did before with the weirdest staement I've ever heard.

'This is the least inspiring Alty team Ive seen since I started watching again in 1994'

Now I'll say that the lads dopn't have me in flashbacks of Sholwer and McKenna and the gang but I think you're just seeking attention here! Less inspiring than the relegation side of 1997 with ian Horrigan in midfield? The next years mob with Gus Waring on the right of midfield ratehr than Robbie Lawton? Less than the last relegation team we had? Less even than some of the nonentities that we had in our lowest Unibond years, like when we lost our first 4 games about 0-4? Dave Swanick? David Wills? Chris Barton? Nick Stephens? Chris Young?

I'm giving you a goodwin for that one ???
