no reduction of 18 point bans is possible!

It would appear it is if you have the money and influence ::)

Re the floodlights.

Barry Pond intimated a couple of things. The electrician the club use has pointed out he isn't happy with them. Also, whilst they do meet conference standards they are not of a high standard that any midweek tv games would require. IF we stay up and IF setanta were to come to ML they would want or at least like a much greater 'lux' on the lights.

Also, they were erected 40 odd years ago and if you look at how thin and shaky they are then you need a lift to get up there. I believe that what would be wanted are pylons that would in a basic sense fold forward halfway up. That is, when maintenance or new bulbs are  required the spark can winch it down, do the work at pitch level and winch it back up. AFAIK.

« on: March 22, 2007, 06:35:41 PM »
Can I just say I like the lofted floaty corners we do. Namely because us having a corner is normally the precursor to the other team pegging up the pitch and scoring against us. At least with it being in the air for a touch longer it feels like we're attacking more. It may also be because Lewis Chalmers can't actually jump WITHOUT staying in the air for about a minute so - seriously has anyone ever seen him jump and then land, he jumps and stays there for ages so it may all be a question of timing or something.  :)

Mark Robins was at the game on Tuesday night, possibly looking at Lewis

As I've mentioned on another thread Chris the Alty legend that is Nicky Daws was with him, looking at someone.... possibly not on contract....who we should offer a contract..... :D

Yes, Mick Woodward is a great bloke and as you say Delboyish. I'm sure he has rubbed some people somewhere up the wrong way as people who make a huge amount of money tend to need to have an edge to them... but you can only take people as you see them and every time I've come across him and his friends they've been really nice and humble.

Please do not ever mention Nicky Daws and our monday night shower of..  in the same sentence please.

p.s. 1165 at 4th place Morecambe rich? This was umbro mans face  :o >:( ::) :P

Hmmm, yes.

"Another question; can I get the shirt personalised with the official Conference numbers and letters?"

Daycare Dan, do me a favour pal just hold back on that one until we are mathematically up!

Don't ever tempt fate where Alty are concerned as it's not as if she isn't tempted already!!  ::) ::) ::)

As soon as Conference survival is secured my orders will wing their way to you GK.

Altrincham FC First Team / Collection for Micky Woodward last night.
« on: March 21, 2007, 10:25:17 PM »
I wanted to buy Micky Woodward a drink last night but was shy, he also had his entourage (who were thoroughly nice people) wth him so had a little whip round last night. Obviously it was nothing really official and I only asked people I knew if they wnated to chip.

So if you did put money in the pot, first of all thanks and just to let you  know we ended up with £55.50. Now as it turned out Geoff had already said that anything Mick Woodward and his friends wanted from the bar was to be on the house and at no point was he to have to pay for anything. Having already given us £20,000 last year effectively

I gave it to Jenny who gave it Mick Woodward and forced him to accept it and get themselves a drink or some fish and chips on the way home or something. I'm told he was overwhelmed and very touched that anyone was arsed at all (God knows how he'd feel if he knew just how much respect and gratitude we have for him). Being the (in my opinion) very humble bloke that he is he wouldn't accept it at first but as I say Jenny forced him and again he was very touched.

So thanks for contributing and thank you Mick Woodward for all that you've done for us and we have you here next season for a conference national fixture.

Oh and also the night was topped off by getting the chance to have a chat with one of my all time Alty heroes Nicky Daws. Top man and obviously a great deal of affection still for the club and GH. Magic player and still look like he could play now (think he's about 37/38)

lewis and his contract....

u are correct in saying he was offered a contract in January after not being offered another one at the end of last season. woudl you blame him for not signing, he was told at the end of the season that he wasn't getting another contract, then he starts to play well and all of a sudden they want him back on contract. i dont blame him for not signing. in my eyes GH messed him around by not signing him again last season and now he is regretting it.

at the moment he is still an alty player and in my opinion he gives 110% every game, as a young player with such talent it is only natural he wants to move up into the football league but at least he is still giving this club his full support whilst he is here.

Well, beaten to it by Exky below, but he was the only player on a contract last year after intially breaking through and whether he rested on his wages/ laurels or just found the step up very demanding he offered virtually nothing last year. You think GH messed him about, I would have been astounded if he had been offered a contract initially this year. I wish it was as easy as player breaks through earns contract plays well and progresses but at semi pro level it's not (believe me I know).

As it is he's doing ever so well for us and as he continues to give 100% that's fine, hope he keeps us up and gets a good move, Stcokport sounds ideal. We would get compo anyway as he's not 23 yet, granted probably less than his market value but there you go. Bear in mind howver that he's only had 3/4s of a good season at conference level, albeit with a semi pro cap as well. One swallow does not a summer make.

Jenga re Craney, well the boy well and truly proved himself, Lewis is a slightly different player I think. Hasn't got the x factor like Craney I would say but is very good all round. A scouting report would read good passer and tackler, great engine, could do with more goals given his the shot he's got on him, both footed, versatile, centre mid, winger, full back, emergency cente half, storng in the air, great leag, long throw, decent attitude. You'd probaly take a chance wouldn't you

Subtlety not your strong point Jenga? ;)

Hope this has thrown a bit of humility at Whalley if nothing else, finding out what it like on the other foot.

Edit: Don't you dare use going down as an excuse to go into admin and wriggle out of the Craney deal whilst replaying the milk ad doing the sympathy bit and taking money into a seperate supporters account.

Further edit: We acquiesced to Scarbor when they defaulted over the Ellender money as we didn't want them to go bust as is the unwritten rulw with football clubs but after the stunts you've pulled Whalley don't expect the same treatment. i'd expect our board to hold out against all deals and creditors options. I would happily accept being reviled by (ignorant) football fans the world over as the club who killed Stanley (3rd time round).

Here's laughing at you T**tty  :D

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Crowd For Saturday
« on: March 19, 2007, 03:29:51 PM »
377 in the away terrace on Saturday. Judging from the amount who went up in the stand after each goal i'd say about another 30 or so there. Add to that the lads who sponsored the game were all Oxford fans and seemed to have a nice time as well as contributing greatly to the bar sales. If those lads are reading this. Cheers fella, hope you had a good day, safe journey home and see you next year hopefully.

So about 450-500 Oxford, would prob have been about 150 more had they not had the stuffing knocked out of them in the last 2 fixtures.

950 Alty therefore, a lot of ours who can't make it up for midweek games will be missing. No champs lge tho so maybe 600 or so on tuesday plus whatever Grays bring, which could be negligable to be fair to them.

Last nights postings were no prbloem at all lad, the fact that we got to 12 pages hwos that there were pletny of others. Well, understandable. Just saying that not everyone has time to monitor the forum and so just read 'new' topics. Quite often, a topic can look like it's 'new'/updated, only to be you replying "i agree. Lol".  Tedious, also dont think you needed to talk about Windmill Jordan when someone had piad hima compliment, unless you know him quite well (do you?). Don't panic too much tho, ot's still better to have too many posters than Conference north type ones.

Have another goodwin courtesy of 'away wins r us'.

what a load of sh*te give me my posts back you fachist nazi moderators!!!

Nope, they're decudted because as far as this forum is concerned you have been a tedious tool. I would also point out that warning requests have been given in messages that you didn't heed.

You may reply to this message saying 'lol' as you usually do for no apparent reason in this one instance.

i would like to state that I did not want you to have your posts reduced (I may or may not have reserved the right to ensure that the maximum possible penalty was brought against you).

Look have a goodwin or two offme, just try and calm down the postings a bit bit eh?
