Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Bumper Crowd?
« on: April 26, 2007, 11:35:09 AM »
Slade Green..I'm amazed no posters up around the ground...

Not sure this has come from, when I was walking past the ground on Monday the match posters were up along with highlighting that under 14 get in free.

Me personally, without wanting to do an Accy, I still think we should walk a pig along the wall of the ground on matchdays like we used to, or deck it out in red and walk it through Alty. I'm sure a local butcher would sponsor it.

Thursday 26th April       GED KIELTY IS THE 'NEW' MANAGER OF TRAFFORD FC
Trafford Football Club are pleased to announce that 31 year old Ged Kielty (left) Trafford's midfielder has been named as the new club manager, following in the footsteps of Danny Johnson who has
decided to moved up a level to join Unibond League Premier Division side Ashton United as their manager.
Ged started his football career as a youngster with Manchester City. He then moved on to Irish side Cork Ramblers returning to England to play for Southport, Barrow, Altrincham, Leigh RMI, Hyde United and after a 22 month 'retirement' he returned to football this season by joining Trafford.
Ged has also won International caps with the Eire Under 18's, a runners-up FA Trophy medal with Southport and a Unibond Premier League Championship medal with Altrincham.
Ged who was born in Urmston was voted last night's Trafford's Man of the Match by our opponents FC United in our magnificent 4-4 draw at Gigg Lane, takes charge for this Saturday's final game of the season at Silsden (Keighley) as Danny Johnson is away on business commitments (honest !).
The Chairman Tom Walmsley and his Board of Directors would again like to sincerely thank Danny for his three and a half years of intense hard work and dedication to the club and wish him 'all the best' for the future. The board would also like to wish Ged every success in the future with his new project as 'Manager of Trafford Football Club'.

And don't think Charlie Clapham and Southport won't be going all out for a win that would put them in 21st ahead of us on goal difference either.  :P

If we'd won last week and had 53 points we'd all be happy and say there was no way all 5 of those teams will not lose. Now we just need to beat the Shots, that's all that's changed. I'm a bit cconcerned that FGR will wank it off at Staffs but there you go. If we win on Sat and results conspire against us I could live with that, to get 53 points and go down because 5 (not 1 or 2) relegation rivas get results wuld just mean it wasn't to be. Just got to win Saturday, simple as.

Parts of that sit emight be slightly out of date. According to them you can still get Dagenham to win the conference with paddy Power at 1/66.

Now it's not often that I would say lump on a 1/66 shot but....

Thing is though mate that the draws are pretty crap as well.

I'd be doing 4 bets, covering two wins, two draws, win/draw and draw/win.

You'd still cover you money and only lose if the best of the combinations happened.

So what's the best bet to do then? Bear in mind I don't want to merely cover my stake and only make a fraction of a profit.

n.b. If you did double chance at ladbrokes. Grays to either win or draw (1.14) and Halifax to either win or draw (1.19) then you would get total odds of 1.3566 or roughly 1/3.

Problem is that the teams around us won't need to win, Crawley  and Cambridge can draw and we'd be down on goal difference. This also applies to Grays and Halifax should they win to get themselves up to 52 points on Tuesday. A draw for Stafford would see them below us on goal difference, unfortunately they are most likely to win as they are at home against a SAFE FGR who apparently are going to be resting some key players there. AT the moment and with what I've just read about Val and Joe I'm more concerned with how the hell we're going to beat the Shots.

They seemed to struggle with Darren Huckerby running at their defenders. I think even Chris Seniors mum would say that's somewhat irrelevant. ;)

It's been a wank season to be honest, as you can see from the rather maegre choices. Cleary Boxing day, everything else has been under the shadow of relegation.

Right, I'm sure that it isn't but I know what sort of weird things can occur on these weekenders but please tell me that you didn't kidnap Englands greatest ever footballer and only World Cup winning captain tied him up put him in a coach boot and made hime play for the supporters team?  :o

We would have to pay him to release him.

So its just better to wait until his contract runs out at the end of the season

??? :P

We have to pay him his weekly wage anyway. The pay off is only the rest of his wages. i.e all at once instead of weekly.

Can this be moved up to the top,as I'm sure many people will look at this over the next week

WORST CASE SCENARIO

Tuesday - Halifax and Stafford win, table will look like this going into Saturday
Saturday - Tamworth win, other rivals win. I don't want to put the table up, but it would need us to rely on other results and a win against Aldershot

Table - Cambridge 52 -10
            Stafford 52 -19
            Crawley 51 2
            FGR 51 -9
            Grays 51 0
           -------------------
           Southport 50 -7
           ALTY 50 -13
           Tamworth 48 -17
           St Albans 37

With regards to this worst case scenario Nasha, bear in mind that Stafford play FGR last game of the season, if it did pan out like this and we won v Shots only one of those 2 would be able to finish above us. Also, FGR have still to play Halifax at some point, not sure if you've factored this in.

My head does hurt. I'm sick of thinking about this. Win at Tamworth please.

Number of things.

We may see more contracts handed out to new signings if we stay up at this level. The players who have been here for a while know they will be looked after and treated professionally, the lads who come in were offered contracts as a show of good faith, bear in mind O'Neill and Bowler both left professional/fulltime football to come and play part time, a huge step. My understanding is that neither will be offered a contract next year. I think at conf level the players of the required standard we try to sign will either be pro, on good money or have a lot of clubs sniffing around them be it whether they are dropping down or stepping up from conf north.

Bowler and Thomson, I don't know. I agree it was reasonable to ggive them a contract , GH seemed to think he could get the best out of thomson, for whatever reason he couldn't. Move on. Bowler started off brilliantly but threw a paddy after being subbed in the friendly the City and never gave a toss thereafter.

What on earth posesses players like that, surely neither of them will get a good gig or a contract next season for anyone now. Bowler in particular could have made a name for himself but at 19/20 seems to be wasting his talent. Weird.

<<< The exit door's this way Thomson you T**t

Back to loan signings I think the level we're at now and the wages required, it's not like the old days where you could gamble on someone, do it now and you're doing it with a significant amount of money which we just can't do.

For what it's worth I know we have tried desperately to ssign players both permanently or on loan and been unable to. I think I'm ok in listing the names (only a couple are rumours) and it would've been a pretty decent squad all told so GH and DS have been tryin. - John Hardiker (RB), Matt Doughty (LB), Mark Tierney (LB), Danny Adams (LB), Graham Allen (CB), John Boardman (CB), Mark Roberts (RB/CB/CM), Jamie Tandy (LW), John Grant (CF), Dino Maamria (CF).

Prob the best example on that is Danny Adams, local lad, released by Hudds, GH desperate for him to stay, gets on well with him. As a solid left back and freeing up Warren for attacking duties, we'd probably be safe by now but he went to Morecambe for full time football, a good chance of getting back into the league and obviously a lot more money (nearly double I believe).
