Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Best footy game ever
« on: May 30, 2007, 04:04:37 PM »
Premier manager for me, circa 1992.

In many ways I was well ahead of my time as I had cheating and money laundering down to a fine art.

You could have upto a 4 player game, so I would enter 4 teams, Alty, Macc, Vics and Wycombe. I took out huge overdrafts/loans/mortgages on the last 3, sold their best players, also sold the ones I wanted at Alty to us for the minimum price you could bid (imagine the other clubs fury at Tinson moving to Alty for £50k less than they had bid). I then sold them the likes of Lee Spencer, Steve Strange and Paul Jones for...well basically every penny they had before quitting as their supremo/chief assest stripper.  ;D

I then had the funds I wanted for Alty and turned Moss Lane into a palace as well, secretly used to throw games at the end of the season so I could have another succesful seadon in the conference, which alledgedly was de riguer at the time too.

O'Neill Donaldson, think he was at Doncaster, I know he went on to play for Sheff Wed in real life but he was THE man, had him in my side and he was Swindells esque! well 55 odd goals a season anyway 8)

It just doesn't seem right that four quite well run clubs go down and get laughed at by charlatans who make no provision for even paying wages.

Tamworth in rare (albeit disguised) praise on Alty forum shocker.  :D

Agree entirely with yourself and Jimmy altho not sure why Stafford are mentioned, presumably to say that a team can survive..

Also, seen the Madjo goal at Moss Lane on the end of season dvd, regardless of whether we were down to 10 men a more unmarked player in the penalty area I have ever seen, it's almost like watching a sky playercam on him alone!!! >:(

« on: May 29, 2007, 11:33:54 AM »
i have just been offered a contract by northwich victoria gettin paid £500 a week but would rather play for altrincham then them wankers but yet ive had no reply to my requests from altrincham omebody please help me. wb

Good. f**k off and play for them you attention seeking little gobsh*te.

Why are you on the internet trying to get people to respond to you?

You're not a footballer.
You haven't been offered £500 a week by Northwich.
You've no idea at all about semi-pro football.

Enjoy this thread before I or Gaz delete it later today.

I've had a thought for a few days now which I've completely kept to myself but just as a discussion point.

A few days ago Mrs McCann was pictured in the papers out jogging, a fairly photogenic lady she is too. Now I know you have to try and keep some semblance of normality in your life and keep doing the things that keep you sane but...... in this instance wouldn't you be frantic, stressed? I'm not a father but I'd like to think I wouldn't be on Confguide or down watching us on Saturday or jogging or whatever.

I mean, jogging, in public, knowing full well that the press will photograph you? Is the photogenic Mrs McCann starting to enjoy the attention?? *

* I don't believe the rumours that the parents are in on it and it's an attention seeking exercise though may I add

« on: May 24, 2007, 04:28:53 PM »
See earlier thread. He's been released by Halifax, the club were said to have made him an offer, GH says this is untrue. So wherever he's going it's not going to be Moss Lane. he says he would like to stay full time but this is unlikely, he may be offered conference football, locality and good money by Farsley Celtic of all people just as Ryan Sugden is. I think Justin Bowler may end up there too for some reason.

Altrincham FC First Team / Ged Kielty (I love this)
« on: May 24, 2007, 02:14:59 PM »
Ged appointment as Trafford manager has been noticed on Port Chat and someone has referred to him as a Wembley legend which to be fair he is to them. Ged has posted back to say thanks as he obviously still likes Southport. Spot the best bit  8)

"It's great to be classed as a Wembley Legend! I've took over at Trafford FC and hope to make a success of management. I've been around the non league circuit for years, been at good clubs and awful clubs and I'm happy to say that Southport is one of the good clubs (second only to Alty). If the port are playing away and you've got a bit of diesel or petrol spare, then come and watch Trafford. One to watch is Trafford versus Squires Gate, then two Wembley Legends are playing, myself and Brian Butler. All I need to do now is persuade Gambo to come out of retirement and play on the left for us! Good luck to the Port next season, the club still holds a special place in my heart."

i think robbie lawton said he would play for us next season in the original few that GH talked to, but i aint toally sure.

senior i dont know and i think that kieran is still out on loan but could play for us next season.

Correct ish

Lawton re signed immediately. Good lad, all he needs to do now is perform for a whole season instead of resting on his laurels after the northwich game and there could be an Alty legend in the making.

Senior ahs been released by Halifax, earlier reports that GH made him an offer are apparently untrue so status unknown, the smart money is on him ending up at Farsley Celtic.

Kieran is still at Leigh, it doesn't appear to be a priority to recall him so as far as i am aware he stays there. I hope we will see Eddie Hussin again although we do have lot of central midfielders.

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Season tickets
« on: May 24, 2007, 12:41:49 PM »
It's funny that, that a lot of us who do go don't actually buy season tickets. I'm quite happy to go to every game and pay full price, suppose I gave the club an extra £60 that way this year, I also like to go in the main stand, in fact sometimes I do and then just stand on the terraces anyway. Maybe I'm just weird..

Anyway, think the point is that people are skint immediately after the season. I only went to 12 away games and April really cleaned me out, having joined the patrons and that thing that Foz does it'll be August before I get the chance to buy one.

Good point though Hughesy, I would urge all those who can do so to, well do so.

Maybe we should be aiming this more at young fans and newcomers to get them to buy season tickets now (not sure how) before they see what the BSnorth is like  :D

For the record,

How many season tickets were sold last year?
How many STAR members are there?

Yup, ok Bandy going now, like someone else said if we can just persuade Adam Yates and Danny Adams that they made the wrong choice and Wembley finals, promotion and league football are bollocks we'd be ace!

Altrincham FC First Team / Crawley
« on: May 20, 2007, 11:47:53 PM »
You'll like this Ecky, bear in mind it's a bit out of date as Begbies Traynor it seems have only been sent 20% of the money but it was on the crawley forum. The bit I've highliighted in bold is the most incredible thing I've ever read on the internet or indeed anywhere else.

Unbelievable  :o

Not for sale
By Tom Gurney
Crawley owner Azwar Majeed today quashed rumours of a takeover.

Majeed insists he has no plans to sell up now Reds are close to being debt free following a year of financial problems and reiterated his desire to take the club into the Football League.

Crawley owed creditors around £500,000 after entering voluntary administration last summer.

A number of potential buyers were thought to have come forward after Crawley clinched Conference survival on the last day of the season.

But in a statement exclusively to The Argus, Majeed said: "I can confirm that (administrators) Begbies Traynor have been sent the money for the CVA and it is now just a matter of a few formalities - crossing the Ts and dotting the Is before the creditors are paid in full.

"There is no takeover planned and I do not have any plans to sell now or in the immediate future but I will say that my door is always open to anyone potentially interested in investing or buying into Crawley Town Football Club."

Majeed is currently interviewing potential new managers for next season and wants to make an appointment by the end of next week.

The club advertised the position last week after sacking caretaker boss John Yems.

Former Stevenage and Rushden boss Graham Westley is believed to be among the contenders along with a number of other well known names.

Majeed has spoken to three candidates already and says whoever gets the job will have money available to build a squad good enough to push for promotion.

He said: "New applications for the manager's job are coming in as we speak and the board of directors are preparing a shortlist of prospective new managers.

"The successful candidate will have to fit a list of criteria and convince the board that he is the correct person who will be able to complete our main objective and be able to drive Crawley into the Football League.

"The manager will be taking over virtually a brand new football club that is debt free and with the financial backing to go out and choose his squad for the upcoming season."

Majeed has urged all fans to put the uncertainty of last season behind them. Some supporters have boycotted home games in protest at the way the club has been run.

Majeed said: "Next season I hope that the fans, new and old, will support the team from the first game to the last game.

"In an increased drive to keep the future of Crawley supporters coming through the turnstiles for years to come, any under-16s will be charged just £3 per match for the whole of next season."

Cos Peter Band won't and Karl Munroe might not. There, that was pretty simple wasn't it?

In fairness I don't think you'll see him back at Vics.

I think he'll go to Hyde where he started off, have to take a pay cut to play for Hyde mind  ::)

Bandys done well for us and is a nice bloke, if he goes back to Hyde then good luck to him. That's where he started off so I know he's well thought of and it doesn't bother me. I wish him well. I got the feeling at the race night that he wasn't quite as in with the crowd Bush and co as he might be, maybe a bit square for them. So at 33 he moves on. I think he played very well for us last season although as a partnership I think Rose and Munroe were the key for us, especially distributionwise, altho whether that's the case in the ConfNorth we will (unfortunately have to) find out.
