Title: Staley v Alty
Post by: Alty Dave on January 01, 2014, 05:43:17 PM
Well done, great victory today. High tempo from the off unlike the Barrow game.

Perry played well. come On Alty.

Whilst Stalybridge are comfortably the poorest team we've played this season, take nothing away from a top class team performance. I was particular pleased that players I singled out for criticism at Barrow had good games today (Rodgers and Griffin in particular). Bring on Leamington - even if they are on a roll at the moment.

If they'te full time its embarrassing!

Couldn't fault anyone.

Great to see Densmore back.

It will be an interesting team selection on Saturday

Has the phrase "do you practice that all week?" ever been more appropriate.

No test today but great to see us moving it well and helping the goal difference.

Tameside is in a serious footballing depression..

Just when we thought that Stalybridge couldn't possibly get even worse....!

Pleasing to see us go for the jugular right from the start.

Good team performance in tricky conditions.

Stalybridge need to bring back Martin Filson.....urgently.

I'm struggling to recollect a previous instance of us achieving a 10-0 aggregate score against the same opposition in the Boxing Day and New Year's Day fixtures.

Celtic were poor again today.  Not much to beat really.

I felt a wee bit sorry for their keeper Craig Ellison. He is the back line of the defence, we put ten past them for no reply in two games, so what happened to the rest of the team taking some responsibility? I saw very little support for him from their back line. At no point did I see their skipper come over for a chat, no words of encouragement, nothing.  First half free kick they got a wall together, it was almost an after thought for one of them to turn round and find out what the keeper wanted. He looked like he'd been the nominated fall-guy, poor cover and ludicrous back passes.  At the end of todays game all their outfield players got together leaving Craig walking off alone.

Celtic were poor, but the way they treated their own goalkeeper was diabolical.

We were in no trouble all day- we could have played all night and they'd never have scored.  Pleased to see so many names on the scoresheet.  Kyle P was much improved.  Well done all.

Ditto. The number 5 in particular seemed to give him a hard time yet he was dispossessed on the by line which led to Reeves' goal.

Stalybridge were woeful full stop. As crap as the keeper was, he wasn't the only one who had a poor game.

Good team performance from us, the goals came from all over again which is great to see.

they we woeful full stop. There keeper got no protection yes he was terrible but there was no passion from the team there manager or there fans,  it was almost like a grave yard like they had resigned them selves to relegation , its a shame i thought staylebridge had passionate fans but even cdj or what ever his name is has gone quiet and wound his arrogant little neck in could be by this time next year ashton utd could be the number one team in tameside

My sentiments exactly. Kyle's crossbar-bender would have been a great goal.

Well done

This.

And good grief they were woeful. I thought Perry was excellent today, he brings all the midfield into the attack. But he's stupidly fat, he should be working harder on that.

Scott Leather was class today.

Their keeper  :o

The keeper will be having nightmares about the first goal for weeks. The second took a deflection and the keeper was unsighted.

From there it just got worse. They did improve a bit once they were kicking down the slope with the wind to their backs but only once did our defence come under any real pressure.

The keeper looked a lonely figure at the end. He couldn't get off the pitch fast enough.

In view of the apology their manager made after the last drubbing it will be interesting to see how he thought today went.

As someone else as said I think, it seemed like the team looked for a scapegoat in their keeper, as poor as he was.

Some of their players should be ashamed to be full time professionals.

Once again their keeper gave us the first goal, but apart from that he actually did ok, making a couple of top class saves. I can't actually find the right words to describe just how bad their number 5 was over both games and their number 6 was little better. The black lad they brought in to cover the crappy centre backs (not the keeper imo) was the only half decent defender they had.

Once again, how good was Scotty at right back, but for me Jake Moult was motm, just as he should have been on Boxing Day - he looks so much more comfortable as an attacking midfielder than as a holding one. It might be very difficult for Greg and Dens to get back into the starting XI, so it'll be interesting to see how Lee plays that one.

One final observation. It was easily Kyle's best performance in an Alty shirt today. Sure, we've all slagged him off at one point or another and I'm still not convinced, but the guy ran his socks off today, so fair play to him.

Yes, Staly were bad, but we made them look much worse than they really are and for me it's us and Telford for the title now.

If they are full timers then I'd have the lot of them in for extra training this week.  The lack of communications and support for each other was deplorable, what the hell was their cap'n doing for 180 minutes?

What an embarrassment for a 'professional' club.

You would expect no less from Stu. A professional and a gentleman.
