Being of an age who fortunately was able to witness the Late Great Jackie Swindells score all those goals, I never thought I would see his record for one season challenged but Reevsie has certainly got a great chance of achieving a new record.

I'm of that age that witnessed it as well Ray.
I never thought anybody would get close to Jackies record.
Reevsie has still a lot to do though.
But I'm sure if Jackie was still with us, he would be wishing Damian all the look in the world in breaking his record.
They were good days.

Indeed they were hopefully the younger fans of Alty will have the chance to one day witness something similiar

Been looking at the top scorers list at http://www.lusa.u-net.com/scorers.htm which raises a couple of questions:

1993/94 - Bomber top scored with 7 goals...surely that season wasn't that bad? Was that the year that King/Heathcote returned to take over in around Feb/March time and we went on a decent run starting with a game at Bath?
2000/01 - Steve Finney....who?

2000/01 - Steve Finney....who?

His name was mentioned on Saturday as we were discussing who was the last Alty player to score 4 goals in a game. Think he scored 4 in a 8-1 win against Woodley in the CSC. But who was last to score 4 in a league game?

Of the 25 league games that we have played to date this season, Damien Reeves has scored in 20 of them.

The only matches in which he has failed to hit the back of the net are: Workington (H): Hyde (A); Gloucester City (A); Solihull Moors (A) and Worcester City (A).

Plus he has now scored in NINE consecutive league matches (and I'm not sure who the last Alty player was to accomplish that particular feat).

Extraordinary statistics.

Interestingly (ish) of his 19 goals in all competitions last season he only scored more than once on one occasion (2 v Hyde in the CSC). So as such he actually scored in 18 seperate matches last season as well as 20 this.

If he continues to get the chances he has had he will get 50

I think 50 would be a big ask, 40 is achievable though. Now this might sound daft but I don't think the way Reevesy is he doesn't actually needs a great many chances. And this will sound strange after Saturday but I'd back him to score as many goals from 2 chances as I would from 4. He's a poacher and whilst being in a stronger side clearly helps, he's just as good in a struggling one because of the types of goals he scores.

Doesn't translate that well on screen but you know what I mean.

Also remember seeing Paul Ellender stamping on one of the Boston players in his ribs that day and duly walked away.

Indeed, their fans were also allowed on the pitch at the end to come up to the Alty end and hang on to the cage at the front like animals, it will be my first return this season.

It will be interesting to see if it is still like a cage
