For all of us who are still excited about next season after the fantastic events yesterday, I was looking at what life might be like in the the National League North.
Particularly from a financial point of view, while having a bigger budget does not guarantee success, York and Darlington will tell you that, but out of the teams in the play off's only Brackley and Bradford PA, have an average attendance below 1000. Well done to them.
I think this also helps with the debate about admission prices, although as Bill mentioned only 30% of our revenue is from match day admissions, it is still interesting to compare different clubs. So the table below has the average attendances from the National league North on FootballWebPages, and the advertised ticket prices from club websites.
Just for fun, I have then taken the average attendance, and then said half of the people are full paying, a quarter are concessions and a quarter are juniors, to calculate a very, very rough revenue figure. Obviously there are lots of assumptions here, I have not included special offers etc. so it is just to comapre different clubs, using the same estimates.
A few points :-
1) The average attendance cost for adults is £13.20 for the league, so for Altrincham I have used the matchday admission price
option C on the website as this looks the closest to this. I think a few people above have said use the average for the league, so Option C would look sensible.
2) The average attendance when we were in the National League North was 1150, So for the purposes of this exercise, I have added an average attendance of 1200. I think he directors should be
targeting at least an average attendance of 1200 for the club, next season.
3) Given those points above our average match day revenue looks to be in the top 6 (excluding Chester (av. att 1827) and Guisley (av. att 883), and I think we should be able to give Phil a budget, to
be in contention for a play off spot next season.
