Is Bowerman the unnamed Trialist that's played in and got decent reviews in a few of the previous games?

Yes he is, needed to sign a striker so hopefully it will work out

Thanks. Hopefully a bit of pace as well, something we were short of last year

2-1 defeat but we seem to have played with credit.....I await the verdict of those who braved the elements.

Thought we played well in patches against a very strong (both in name and physicality) Port Vale side. Their finishing was the difference between the two sides ultimately. Stuart made some excellent saves, but we wasted some very good opportunities. I felt the triple change disrupted our flow when we were pushing for a leveller. I also thought the second port vale goal was a foul on marshell, but you've seen them go both ways.I thought in all it was a decent performance with no clee and Richman going off so early. Hopefully both fit for next week. We used differing formations throughout the game today. Decision for next week now is one upfront or two? I've genuinely no idea what the starting 11 will be, so good look to the FGR scout for his written report!

George Bowerman looks a useful player, great linking up with other forwards. I noticed one situation where our forwards worked to close down their defence, both George and James Lawrie were involved with this. I tall started but them getting amongst the back four, as they were playing in round their defence. George got round the back of their defence and it was only some desperate defending by Port Vale that avoided them conceding a goal. George and James were very good at chasing their defenders, and this is something I have noticed before in George Bowerman.

I feel we are now a more or less complete team, quite strong and should give several of the better teams in our league a decent game.

Looking good on todays performance, no way did PV have it all their own way; but at least what few fans they had behaved much better than last time we played them!!

I think you watched a different game Steve, when Bowerman game on he was the only forward on the pitch and ran round like a headless chicken

He was one (and the pivotal one) of the triple change that disrupted our flow when we were looking for a leveller as figgy refers to in an earlier post

No I was at the game Sybil, were you? You seemed to have opinions even when apparently not going to some of the earlier games. And yes, I was at the game today, and have also been to 5 other PSF's thus far.

I think George is going to be a good player for us, time will tell but you are writing a new player off before the season has even started. For chrissakes he only signed this morning, give the lad a chance to prove himself.

Sorry but finding your posts very negative and they depress me; and I definitely don't want to go down that road again!!!

I think maybe the problem here is we felt we needed a really good striker to come in, the conference standard replacement for Walshaw we've not had, and maybe simply can't get. From what I've seen of him we've had worse players but I feel we needed something more than someone out of the bargain bin.

Unless a sugar daddy comes in, the bargain bin is as good as it gets. I think Bowerman may be a decent player at this level. He's certainly got to be a step up on Gillespie.

I agree, but as I say time will tell; however why we are writing the team off before a ball has even been kicked in anger?

Wait and see, yes we lost a few games before the end of last season, but this is job starting now, not job done and the pressure is off.

Kick off the season with a win against the veggies; and lets judge them when they kick a ball in anger, current results bear no relation to the last 8 games.
