Post by: TheCultOfIanTunnacliffe on January 23, 2007, 08:52:43 PM
.....the latest score is Northwich 0  Altrincham 0.

Somehow, I fancy us to get a point there.....

Good to see the BBC paying proper attention to the non-league again!

Unfortunately, FGR are winning.

I once watched  a Macc v Alty match on Teletext for 90 minutes in the early 90's and was delighted to see us holding them to 0-0 until at 935pm, it came up with 'Match Postponed'.  Also Alty v Shrewsbury in the Trophy was 0-0 throughout, until the final score flashed up as 0-1 and five minutes later, Shrewsbury's goal (81 minutes) came up.  Didn't fall for that last night!

On Soccer Saturdya last week, the Woking goal didn't appear. The list of conf scores at the side had us 0-0 and nothing had come up on the scorers bit at the bottom ( I was watching the 2nd half scores pretty closely on staurday too, I didn't leave the room for a minute or owt like that).

Then Woking 2 McAllister 76 Altrincham 0 came up  >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

The side scores still had it as 0-0 until the final results were read out >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

I didn't have to text anyone or get on the internet to check whether it actually was 0-2 or not  ???

That confused me too. I was in the gym and could only just read the text on Sky with my dodgy peepers. Down the right I could see 0-0 and along the bottom I saw something about Woking. At first I thought they had scored, but then reckoned they must have had someone sent off. Wishful thinking eh.

Also,

Why do Sky Sports keep putting a line above the bottom TWO teams at the foot of
the conf table ?

I keep thinking The Conf committee has changed the rules again without telling anyone although
i suppose that is normal in this era.

Is it Four down or only Two ...Sky certainly don't know this.

A few weeks ago when we played Grays away I was following it on the Sporting Life page which I prefer.  Whenever there is a goal it will say "Shot/Header by (player)  on target" Then follow it with "Goal by so and so and their team".  I have only seen them mess this up once so far when they said "Shot by Aspinall (Altrincham) on target" . This is when it was 1-1 and late in the game.  There I am thinking we may have won it and waiting for the "Goal" confirmation to come and, of course, it never did!   The perils of following a team from afar I'm afraid.

You know we really don't do bad these days, as a youngster supporting Alty in the 70's, unless youn actually were there it could be nigh on impossible sometimes to know the result never mind updates. Saturdays were ok as there was the Pink, but there were no TV scores or even teleprinter goals, midweek aways were a nightmare. If you were lucky the result might be in the morning paper but it wasn't unusual to need to wait till the following nights MEN. We're spoilt with this new fangled interweb thingy and those mobular telephones!

Just off for my slippers and a nice hot water bottle.
