He was that sort of player! I remember he was doing lengths of the pitch with Eddie once; Pottsy could not keep up even at a jog! I think Eddie managed 2 in the time it took Pottsy to do one.

Having said that he was a top bloke and a great Conf North player.

One of our PE teachers was Alan Welsby, then international rugby union referee: it was a case of, "You go for a cross country run, I need to wait for a phone call in my office (with my pack of fags!)"

Don't think he was a pie man tho!
