Title: Southend Match Thread
Post by: Alty Dave on March 17, 2022, 09:41:08 AM
Assuming that Thommo is fit, can see that being only change on Saturday barring any injuries. Sorv's advised on Tuesday's pastries that he was back in training on Tuesday.

Tough game, but would be good to keep the points ticking over.

I'd play Drench even if TT is available. Winning team etc.

It’s a tough call which obviously would not have arisen without TT’s illness. I’d side with Parky’s decision for two reasons. Firstly he’s paid to make the call. Secondly, this fence Im sat on is quite comfy.

Would be mad to not play Tony if he's available. Drench is emergency cover.

The Southend home game was where it all started to go wrong for us. They were good at the cynical side of things. I'm hoping we can put things right on Saturday.

Another clean sheet would be excellent! 😉

Sounds like Tony Thompson will be available, so he goes back in for me - although I'm easy either way and trust the manager's judgment:

            Thompson
Perritt Mullarkey Cooper Jones
        Osborne Marriott
  Mooney  Kosylo  Colclough
               Hulme

Possibly my worse day at ML for 10 years. Certainly worse under PP

I'd agree with you on this lineup Marple Alty. Best we can do at present.

I was chatting with Steve Drench on Saturday and he says if Tommo is fit then he plays . I got the impression that Steve sees himself as a coach rather than a player but is there if required,

It was also the coldest day of the season when we had to sit in the stands due to H&S

That's ages away, do we really have to wait until May for some music?

Sounds like we didn't capitalise on a strong first half, and never really hit back after going down.

Any thoughts from those that attended?

Good for first 20 mins, should have been in front
Conceded from a corner and then a counter attack
Jordon did well first half but did not appear for second
Second half dire from both glad to hear final whistle
60 in away end made a fine noise
 Meet again next season

That’s something you very rarely see if at all! A tad more than bad luck.

I was there yesterday, Matty so unlucky, thought it hit both posts, Geez, Dan had a few chances as well. But need to score when on top. There first was so soft, Thommo under pressure dropped ball, why not punch? We tried to clear but they charged down and just over line. Second a counter when Matty lost the ball.

After that they controlled us and we were below par. Personally for me Thommo looked not quite 100%, Drench should have kept place until he was fully fit, his distribution was the worst I've seen.

Looks like putting Thompson straight back in - something I advocated myself - was an error in hindsight.

Bang average side who will be in the middle 8 sides come May. We were below par.

I too fully expected Thommo straight back in, I'm one of his biggest fans, but he didn't look ready to me. Easy to say in hindsight.

He never looks ready to me. And that's not me being unfair. I've been saying that since he joined the club.
