Medical emergency involving a spectator.

You're not sensing another Covid-related conspiracy, are you?!

Now why would I be doing that? ;)

No, it just means that we will stay well above Yeovil (and that Yeovil will have another long trip, probably midweek). I hope the person concerned will be alright.

Altrincham FC First Team / Alliance Premier League videos?

I was wondering if any footage exists of or directly related to (i.e. not FAT etc.) APL matches? In this age of wall to wall coverage, and when you can even see recovered film reel of the mighty Newton Heath in action, it would seem remarkable if there was a complete blank on one of the greatest league periods in Alty's league history from as recently as the 1980s.

Dulwich Hamlet have done this sort of thing quite well haven't they? Is there anything we could learn from them?

We've never agreed on anything more, Hugh.

Yes indeedy, and I would hope we can all agree on the cause of a fair deal for NL teams. I would tentatively suggest that there is some agreement on Marcus Dinanga too, who for my money has proved he can make a contribution to this team, and I hope he continues to improve.

I say AA, was that you a few weeks back at the Barnet game with an Ajax Amsterdam scarf? Or do you prefer not to say? If it was you, maybe I'll come and say hallo some time, now I know who you are. And at any rate, at least I know there is more than one "Dutch" Alty now. You know, that's what I love about Altrincham f.c. - that people of many different backgrounds and beliefs can come together over the football and have a nice chat, and feel comfortable and accepted.  And if talking to people is not their thing and they just want to watch the football, why that is fine too! Let's all laugh at Luton, we think they're rooty tootin'...

Say, do you remember my Dutch friend I told you about? I saw him at the York match, and he said he enjoyed it and would like to come again. He also expressed an interest in providing food in the fanzone, so who knows, maybe you will see him (or his colleagues) too some time.

Fun fact: when I started watching football in Scotland in the 1980s, my team Aberdeen signed no less than four Dutch players, which seemed to be the thing to do at the time (I think Dundee United signed a Duch player too - Paatelainen?). One of the Dutchmen signed by the Dons was a brilliant winger called Hans Gilhaus, as I recall, signed from PSV. Apparently they still had plenty of other good players, and I thought that in that case, they must be some team, and I have looked out for their results in Uefa competitions ever since!

Whoops. Now that would have been dodgy!

Apologies for a shot error...

Speaking of which, is there any word of who we might get in the next round/when the draw is?

N.B. I wouldn't trust that Cheshire FA website, as I believe that they have problems updating or amending it!

I have been advised that we will actually play Alsager Town or Vauxhall Motors (not sure of the venue).

I think they have problems organising a senior football tournament, and I wouldn't be surprised to learn that they have problems organising a drinking session in a brewery ("now did anyone bring a bottle opener?"). "She wore a scarlet ribbon in the merry merry month, and when I asked her why she wore that ribbon, she said it's for the Alty and we're going somewhere or other". Can we please sing this if we ever make the final?  ;D

I seem to remember something similar happening in an FA Cup tie a few years ago (which we lost of course). To speed thongs up. Allegedly.

Your'e on the right track . We hastily arranged  a CSC tie v Macc to clear Jeff Johnson for the Orient replay as he was on a one match ban from his sending off in the first game and our 'reserves' won i believe ( we still got fined ) 🙂

We played at Macclesfield on the Monday after the Orient replay, which I believe was the originally scheduled date of the game i.e. we decided not to rearrange the game to enable Jeff Johnson to serve his 1 match suspension. I have a recollection of Graham Heathcote returning from injury & playing about 30 minutes before being withdrawn, having proved his fitness, to enable him to play at Brisbane Road in the replay 48 hours later.
From memory, Phil Wilson was the only other first team player that was involved & he scored a magnificent goal with a curling right foot shot from about 25 yards to make it 1-1, which was the final score.I can't remember the replay but have a feeling that we won.

Those were the days, when our reserves could get a result against Macc Town!

Speaking of which, is there any word of who we might get in the next round/when the draw is?

(Alleged?) footage has now emerged of the incident and is being used by multiple sources:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=80iKFgV79Mg

From this, it appears that at least two people witnessed the incident and did nothing about it, which to me is also concerning, although to be fair they may not have known what was in the replacement bottle.

There were one or two decent Sunday league teams as well. I think both Chris and Danny Adams played for Packet House. I remember one time when Packet got to the quarter finals of the Cheshire Junior cup, watched by around 200 people against some team from the Wirral (transported here curtesy of Happy Al's well scouse bus company - or that's how I remember them anyway!). I remember George Heslop, God rest him, used to look in on them sometimes with his little dog and his "broad Timperley accent".

That reminds me, there was a supporters match once, Altrincham against Runcorn. Apparently Runcorn roped in a bunch of Sunday league players who absolutely battered us. They kept lofting balls into the box, with which our defenders simply could not cope.

For me, the HBU merger made sense, though perhaps some would see it differently. Certainly it's great to have so many people involved with  the club now.

To be fair, quite a lot of matches have late goals. "Fergy added time"?

Ah yes, I remember when Switzerland were ranked about second in the worldsome years back and I stirred up a hornets' nest when I questioned this on the Confguide forum.

A result against Qatar? I would settle for a result against catarrh, personally...

Including with urine, I wonder? I can see the scene now as his lawyer argues for the health benefits of urine, and argues that that Dutch player who spat at a German merely got sent off...
