Hardest Man Ever at Alty
« on: February 26, 2011, 09:46:27 AM »

I am sorry if we have had this thread before, but someone touched on it with the Mark Sertori thread.

I know the obvious one but who in their opinion is the hardest man seen playing for Alty.

The obvious one for me is John King, but coming back to my first days I would also nominate Gerry Casey, Lennie Dickinson and Stan Allen as contenders!

Any others, both up to date and from our illustrious past??

Based on the amount of pain he played through to get us through the Playoffs I'd have to say Eddie Hussin was worth a mention

Six foot two, eyes are blue, Gerry Casey's after you. The hardest nut I have ever seen on a football field and that includes Bremner, Tommy Smith, Norman Hunter ect..
Derek the Tank Halliwell athough he was a gentleman, he was not one to mess with.

Pound for pound it's either Lennie Dickinson or the semi legendary Joe Flaherty

Carl Furlong ... Even Alty fans parted when he scored and ran in the chequers end, class celebration.

John Mcglouglin, was well hard.

Brian,

Do you mean Tony McLoughlin, the ex-Wigan Athletic centre forward who joined Alty in the early 1970s?
