Having just read on the website that 2010 sees the centenary of football at Moss Lane I was wondering if the club had any ideas of how they might capitalise on it and hopefully make a few bob into the bargain?
Anyone know what they have planned ?
Given that the other lot down the road in Trafford are also celebrating their centenary at Gold Trafford how about a special centenary match between the two?
or second best, Macclesfield as they were supposedly the first opposition to play at Moss Lane ?
or third best how about the bluenosed tenants from the Council House ?
Some good ideas. United have been known to play teams of a similar reputation to us occasionally. I'm sure they sent a strongish side to Burton Albion in order to open their new ground. I also vaguely recall them playing a very unfashionable club in Scotland for some reason or other.
I think City agreeing to a game is unlikely. We don't house their reserves, we don't seem to have much of a rapport with them, they're not based in our borough, etc etc. Obviously Macclesfield would be a decent back-up option if we can't get a game against the big boys.
