From NLP report of Halifax 4 Droylsden 1

Johnson's introduction at the start of the second half proved crucial to the win. He was involved in the build up to the opener........

Johnson's wonderful solo effort (for the third).......in which he beat several former team mates before steering a shot beyond Latham sealed the points.

There was still time for Titchiner to complete his hat trick after he raced onto a Johnson flick on.

Of course, if he's put in 45 solid minutes, it could be a couple of weeks before he's up for it again.

Lawrie is a good player but given how inconsistent he can be (less so this season in fairness) that's a bold statement!! EVERY day?

I think it depends more on what mood Dale is in than Lawrie!  Dale on his day was fantastic and would edge out Lawrie but those days were few and far between

well not every day. but in average yes.

Lawrie has a decent game 7 in 10.

Dale has a decent game 4 in 10.

If Dale Johnson was that good, he would still be here!

In that case James Lawrie is the better player for us, which I think he is. Though he was a good player, his form was sporadic for us at best.

Dale is a good player, that was never in doubt. If he played to his full ability every week he would be playing in the Football League.

If he's happier elsewhere, then good luck to him. We can't afford to carry players who don't want to be here, we've got the beginnings of a decent side here with a good positive spirit about them. Not the finished article by any means, but we're making progress - long may it continue!  :)

No coincidence that he played like Pele against his old club.

When there's something to prove or something to get him revved up he's very difficult to handle. Unfortunately, bogstandard league games would often see him looking a little disinterested. Well, not disinterested, that's going too far. But like he was playing at 80%. He's a weird one.

And us Halifax fans are happy with dale... So far. Been among our best players on a consistent basis. As an Aussie, he reminds of a mark Vistula type player, big and strong, but with some excellent close control. He ran through about 5 defenders on sat for his goal.bim not saying he won't regress into a player that you only 4 or 5 times out of ten games. But so far halifax fans are very happy with his contribution.

you've got to question why and the circumstances, was it the manager? the club? the tactics? why is he playing so well now? why is he looking at promotion at the moment and we are'nt?
