To keep going after hitting the crossbar 3 times in 15 secs, miss chances that seemed easier to score and then go 1 down showed the guts of this team.
They outmuscled us and were far more physical but we stayed with them....the subs were bang on....the crowd were awesome moss lane rocking a memorable night.
It's only half time but I am as proud of our efforts and achievement tonight as I was at Nuneaton.
Well done to Lee and the boys!
Don't normally approve of flares but tonight it seemed right and added to the whole occasion.
We can do this COME ON!!!!!!
-
I second that , the subs were excellent the players kept on going till the end , only half time but what a game ;D
-
Fully agree what a gutsy performance and never say die attitude , well done all!!!
The atmosphere was fantastic to and the flare only added to it!!
-
Tonight was the best! The flare added to the atmosphere perfectly!
The team proper stuck to it and when Reeves won that ball shoulder to shoulder with their huge number 2, just showed the determination!
Bring on Saturday, 2 coaches so far... If that can be 3, it would be great! Everyone chip in with: Balloons, toilet roll, confetti etc and lets make a mess of Brackley
COME ON ALTY
-
YEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Simple but effective comment i think.
-
Only caught the score infrequently on JL's text commentary at work. This really is a different Alty that is able to come back from behind, not crumble under pressure and show some real character.
There is a long way to go but I'm proud of the lads, management etc.

agreed well played everyone and a good gate despite hardly any away fans, next goal could be crucial

I think this bears repeating right now. It's what I've been saying to the wall for the last 10 minutes.
-
Great comeback in the second half, great subs (what a volley from Jake 8), great support.
Still buzzing, we can do this!
-
And compare this to the first game of the season!
-
Quality heart quality performance and the ground was rocking
-
Atmosphere was,indeed,IMMENSE tonight.
However, our performance was awful : YET WE BATTLED AND WON.
I wonder what the score would have been had we played REASONABLY WELL.
Very well done to all concerned. Please erase the DOOTSON nightmare forever and get us up.

awful is a bit harsh average maybe

Busy night in the bar tonight nearly ran out of clean glasses before the game. Managed to see the winning goal
and what a goal.
-
Awesome night, excellent attitude shown by the players, one good goal and one ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT goal. Fans were magnificent (despite the flare)
Referee was very poor IMHO. Not as some folk were suggesting biased or bent, just poor for both teams and more importantly for the game as a spectacle
-
The flare was fantastic, get over yourself

Yes I agree the flare was a disgrace.
i'd like to see flare boy banned from moss lane for life.
disgusting.

Wrong about the flare ATS.
Added superbly to the atmosphere - its not somethign we do week in week out.
The lads even younger than myself were in their element tonight as well, hopefully regardless of saturday and beyond their hooked.

Anyone bemoaning the flare is a disgrace

Alls flare in love and war.

Phil,
Have to concur with you about the referee.
A consistently incompetent performance from him.
Whilst I appreciate that you approach the flare issue with your former Chief Steward's hat on, I have to admit that, purely from an aesthetic angle, it did look rather impressive when viewed from the back of the Main Stand!
Havern was man of the match for me.
They looked a bit shell-shocked at the end.
-
To be fair, as referees go I thought he was ok. The problem was that they were simply more physical than us.
Also as someone who was stood next to the flare, I think it was a novelty as a one off and looks great on the photos. Thre was no safety issue whatsoever.
-
If your moaning about the flare you need to get over yourself TBH...
It added immensely to the atmosphere! The players loved it (on twitter)! Shows the floaters/people who think supporting Alty is pointless that supporting Alty is fun! Also we never use flares, EVER, so today's made the day more unique and special!
Flares every game would be pretty sh*t though, big games like this? Perfect!
-
I didnt notice a lifeboat outside the ground after the game so maybe we need more flares ;) :D
-
See the Fun Police have arrived ::)
Despite that, what an amazing night. NOTHING beats a last minute winner.
Well done to all. Bring on Saturday :D
-
I may be wrong on this issue, but the celebration for the equalizer and the flare showed Brackley that we mean business. Their fans were shell shocked.
The second goal and again the celebrations seemed to take alot out of Brackley, emotionally this has to be brilliant for Saturday, we are on a crest of a wave whilst there will feel pretty low. The body language from their players at full time said it all.
The singing as we all walked out of the ground showed us all what supporting Alty is all about.
We need to carry the momentum through to Saturday and everyone needs to get as many people down to the ground as possible, cars, train, coach and if necessary bloody donkey.
Well done everyone.

I can assure any fan that wasn't particularly happy with the use of the flare last night that it is not going to become a regular thing.
We aren't forming a seperate Ultras division any time soon, and if we don't get promoted I can guarantee "flare boy" wont be stood at Vauxhall Motors arm aloft with till roll flying past him.
It was organised last night to add to the massive occassion of the game. As people have said, no one was remotely harmed and you can tell from the reaction on Twitter from both fans and players alike (notably Clee, Lacey and Lawrie) that it more than served its purpose.
I'd say there were 100+ younger lads there last night who will have loved that. Coupled with the manner in which we then went on to win, I think branding the whole thing as a disgrace is slightly pathetic considering the new fans it may have enticed, the atmosphere it triggered and the safe manner in which it was executed.

someone pick me up off the floor!! ;D
I think the ref just didn't give our players any protection at all....every 50/50 between one of their gorilla's and our slender footballers went their way for some reason and I think this physicality and a few nerves stopped us from playing our normal game...ironically once we went a goal down we seemed to relax.....I think we have to give Brackley some credit and say they stopped us playing V of D?
That flare made the night special...perhaps because it was a one off.....well, we probably can't afford 100 flares to celebrate every goal that went in this season against the likes of droylsden and Hinckley ;D
-
Listened on RR. Brian Flynn MOTM, flipping from professional commo to rabid fan in the blink of an eye.
I take it the ref wasnt much kop?
-
That flare was AWESOME, an unforgettable moment for sure. Seeing all the flare pics on my FB & Twitter timeline for 2 hours last night was fantastic.

This is what i wanted to say but couldn't be arsed typing it all up
Good post.

I am not, as was suggested "fun police"
I do accept that the flare was aesthetically pleasing and added significantly to the occasion, particularly the time of its usage
I also accept that nobody was in any way hurt by the flare
I wonder though whether we would be so sanguine had any part of the stand, or any of the densely packed spectators caught fire? I suspect not!
Still think the Ref was poor BTW
-

Now come on Phil you know perfectly well I didn't take latin so have no idea what sanguine means....I thought it meant pi$$ed.....
DON'T SET THE FLARE OFF!!!.....WHAT IF THE LIFEBOAT CATCHES FIRE? ;D ;D
c'mon Phil, it was a one off that you yourself have admitted looked good (I think that's what aesthetically pleasing means)......lighten up!

You need to consider the impact of the passive smoking caused by the flare and the impact on NHS finances in the future, let alone young lives lost.

As a neutral I would like to say what an absolutely cracking game that was last night, fair play to both sides who went hell for leather for the full 90 minutes and provided magnificent entertainment.
I thought the Altrincham fans were superb and practically sucked both goals into the net, it must have been great to have been playing in front of that kind of noisy crowd - and then to score in the 90+3 minute, great stuff.
Actually, when a lot of neutral observers' eyes were on the two "stars" of Watmore and Reeves, I thought they were fairly quiet and it was some of the others who really stepped up to the plate, especially at 1-0 down.
Should be another good game on Saturday, dare I say a little bit messy? :D
Good luck, anyway.
-
The flare is a banned item read number 6 of the clubs own ground regulations http://www.altrinchamfc.co.uk/altygroundregs.pdf
I admit they do look good but hope its a one off as it can cause pepole to panic to which i have witnessed elsewhere.

The view from the other side.

Think we’ll just need to agree to disagree on this one and no one needs to fall out.
Stewards and ex stewards will look at the safety aspect of it and the potential for what could have happened. That’s fair enough.
Fans absolutely loved it and as a one off it just added to the wonder of the night.
-
I believe Brackley have asked Altrincham stewards to help out at Saturdays game this was a request before last nights game.

Unbelieveable. The most un-Alty thing that was ;D
Starting to come down a bit now and realise we still have a job to do on Saturday. The good thing about Sinnott is he doesn't play defensively, so we will go there looking to make it 3-1 from the off. Not looked forward to a match for a long time.
-
Spot on Nasha. If we go there looking to shut up shop then we will fail.

He was, I'm afraid IMO Phil, an attention seeker. The game was too big for him. He was just seeking attention, so much so that a couple of us on the mausoleum could even call when he was going to give US a free kick for absoluteluy nothing. He did neither side any favours.

Your right their Ballers. He was a tall version of Ross Joyce. A pair of attention seeking gits together. ;)

When there were free kicks, the ref would get the wall back 10 yards (fine), he would then speak to the wall (on either team he did this) and run his finger across his throat in some sort of odd mafiosa gesture, suggesting if you move forward I'll cut ya throat. He did this several times.Weird. His decisions were also weird at times as well.
-
I think that I can explain the gesture you describe.
It is to indicate that if you put your arm / hand up around your face or throat for protection and the ball hits it I will penalise you for handball. Obviously in the Penalty area that would result in a Penalty Kick and, wherever on the FoP, potentially a caution

Thanks ATS. That makes a lot more sense than a threat of a slit neck. ::)
-
What an amazing result well done lads gutted I was not there I can not wait for Saturday now and the jenga bus
-
Decent game, you looked very good going forward. The ball sticks to that Ginger lad when he runs with it.
We will take that though as we are still in the second leg, might play into your hands but who knows.
Looking forward to the second leg.

Aside from your administration, your team were very solid and well organised. The way you forced us back in the first 20 minutes was very impressive.
The game is far from over but with your away record I was pleased we got our noses in front.
