Lawrie always gets very mixed opinions on here. Really happy he's signed on personally! Can't fault his work rate :)

I have a feeling Lawrie is going to be the new Jordan Sinnott among some in the crowd and on here.. I can understand some of the criticism he gets but there have been worse players than him.

Live news feed from the DWL: Lawrie signs, takes a substantial wage reduction to stay and young wants to play him as a number 10, off the forward, feels his career has been hampered by being played all over the place

Couldn't agree more. We all know he's useless on the wing but behind the striker, at that level, we've got a decent player.

Extensive and trusted scouting network being put in place. Wants a young fit team with a smattering of experience. Wants to take the club in a new direction with a new philosophy. Players predominately between 18-25

All players and management will spend at least half an hour in bar after Every game regardless of results having a drink. wants to be approachable and wants the players and fans to be one unit

Young feels it's important that management, players and fans all know each other's personalities and feel comfortable talking openly and honestly to each other

Rowley said the club prepared to pay transfer fees if needed, Young has nailed every question here. Said he can sit here and cliche us all night, but it's about doing it on the pitch, one or two known names hopefully coming in, the rest won't be people that jump out at us but good players in his opinion

Going back to James Lawrie, hopefully played in his correct position we may see improved performances next season and fair play to the lad for accepting reduced terms to stay at the club.

Good to see him stay.
Played in the correct position, will be good for him and the club.
We shouldn't blame him for being played out of position.
Fantastic turnout for the Q & A.
Not one negative question!!

Great news, Reeves and Lawrie have always been successful when played together in the middle.

I can see him in my mind's eye.

But who was the last player for whom we paid a transfer fee. I think he came from Blackpool.

Cult, can you help?

We paid 15 grand for Keith Russell from Blackpool, but we also paid fees for Gary Talbot and Peter Band since then I believe

Yeah, Keith Russell, thank you.

Peter Band was one of the biggest DUFFERS we ever signed, ( I don't think we paid for him )  and his wife " MRS BAND" used to come on the forum and try to defend him. Oh Happy Days :) :)

Unfair to have a go at either Peter Band or his wife.............he did the best he could for this club and his wife did the same...........not the greatest player to ever wear the shirt, but who's next in the firing line

I have always said Lawrie was never given a fixed role in the team setup Sinnot had him everywhere apart from goalkeeper.
Im sure he will prove his ability to us.

Personally glad to read that he is staying,

I'm pleased to see him stay, he's clearly fond of the club - however I'd like to think we're ambitious enough to be signing someone to push him on to the bench.

Being prepared to maybe pay a transfer fee but having a low budget and only bringing in one or two known named players baffles me a bit,.

James has always been a frustrating player, brilliant one minute and then makes numerous mistakes. He never lacks effort though.
Equally, his delivery from set pieces has always been inconsistent.

If Young can get him playing using his undoubted ability in his best position consistently, you never know he may yet win the doubters over.

Vardy Antoni Sarcevic and Lee Gregory are all players who were bought for minimal fees and yet have probably made Non-league clubs hundreds of thousands of pounds.

I'm a little surprised to see an extra body in the backroom team if we are on a tight budget I'd rather have an extra player than a third coach

From last night given Alan spoke of helping Shaun I'd assume he's involved in some capacity

Our newest back room staff has or will be signing forms.

I think NT signed forms when he first arrived - doesn't mean he's a serious squad member.  I know this case is different with him only being 32 but is he good enough or just emergency cover like the youth team?

A good player who can help out with the coaching is brilliant but given the press release it sounds more like a coach who can cover at a push

Backroom staff......who says they get paid a wage or even petrol money ?

I am not expecting Ian or Alan (or the kitmen) to come on here and enlighten us because it is private information and should stay that way.....but we cannot assume that because someone wears an AFC tracksuit and travels on the bus, that they get paid for their efforts

The management team have a budget and its up to the manager to decide who he wants and needs within that budget. Simples.
