Will be good to see him back with Williams and Smithy.

Well done Ken & whoever helped sort this out!
Just what we need, a good defender, stop conceding silly goals e.g. wrexham, hayes, etc

The big question....................who will be our back line?
Title: Re: Greg Young
Post by: markecky on February 07, 2011, 05:42:09 PM
If he recaptures his form of last season both at the back and going forward he could be the player we need to keep us up.

Well done Ken and the club..I never thought they would get him back..

Quality.

Will also put 100 more on gate (all female!)

Does make me wonder if anybody will be out the door tho'. Welch seems to be totally surplus now.

Bring on Alsager

The Doncaster born Centre Half will return to his previous employer having been unable to claim a starting place in Gary Mills' squad and has been allowed to rejoin the Lancs outfit to give him chance to play regular football.

We must be their new rivals, as they have moved us to the old ememy of "Lancs"  ::)

I believe he became disillusioned with football and chose to take a total break from the game for a while

So, does that mean he has signed for Northwich....?

Oh, and that's marvellous news about Greg Young's return.

Fantastic news. Absolutely fantastic. With this news, I've gone from 'optimistic' about our survival hopes to 'confident'.

Well done Ken for bringing him in. Well done Greg for deciding to get playing again rather than waste a career on the bench.

He will not be eligible to play v Alsager; as mentioned earlier players have to be registered by the Friday before the game is due to be played.
This is, however, excellent news for our League programme - Rob Williams has been half the player he was last season because he hasn't had Young next to him telling him what to do and where to be. Greg is a natural leader and might well be an appropriate on-field captain. It might take a game or two for him to get back into the Alty ways, but I don't believe he will be any less of a player than he was last year. Really encouraging news.

welcome home Greg, quite gutted and strangely insulted that York didn't seem to appreciate your undeniable talents but it's an ill wind as they say.

and well done kenny and the club for bringing the wandering sheep back to the flock.

Not only a great player to be signing back but also a signing to lift everyone at the club and bring in an air of optimism

After the whole "You know who" not wanting to come to play for Alty it just shows how much people who have played for Alty appreciate us and enjoy being here.

WELCOME HOME YOUNGY.

Just to make it crystal: Greg isn't eligible for the semi-final against Alsager, and as far as I'm aware he'd have to be eligible for that game in order to be eligible for the final, if we make it.

Piergiani would be in my line up,Joseph would be on the bench. Competition for places is always good.
Title: Re: Greg Young

Having thought about this, the back line I think Ken might choose for the tougher games is;

                      Williams    Smith     Youngy
Joseph                                                                Piergianni

And he will push Densmore into midfield especially when (if) Wedgebury goes back in a week or so.

When he plays 4 at the back he would move Smith to RB and Joseph onto bench or holding midfield role?

GK; Coburn, LB; Piergianni, CB; Young, Williams and Smith, Rb; Joseph, LW; Clee, CM; Lawton and Densmore, RW; Baynes, CF; Reeves.

Thank me later....
