Sheerien Park is currently set to stage 13 games in the next 24 days, one of which is a cup game that could potentially yield a 14th.
Athersley Recs season has been extended by a week (they already have a game on May 3rd !) so they could potentially shift one of their scheduled 5 home games in 11 days into that week, assuming last night's postponed game goes there too.
The likelihood of that pitch standing up to the amount of usage scheduled for it is practically nil. Athersley are at home on Saturday, then Shaw Lane on Monday/Thursday/Saturday.
Some games really will have to go elsewhere.

If only there was another football team in Barnsley with a suitable pitch. :D

I suppose they could try to arrange the odd game at the rugby union club, back at Shaw Lane. :D

They have played at Oakwell before in December 2014.....an FA Vase tie against Shildon.

Barnsley have their own backlog to sort out.

I suppose the learning for the League is to look at bit more closely at the facilities at clubs especially ones who have multi use community commitments like Shaw

Have to say I laughed at shaw lane's claim of two promotions from the national league at the start of the season....

Athersley has actually passed an inspection this morning and the game is "on as it stands". I hate to think what state the pitch will be in afterwards, though.
