So this was the still MOTD put up after Bradford's 4-2 win away at Chelsea. Though they'd forgotten all about our greatest scalp...

I saw that too, very impressed. Not sure how yesterdays game at chelsea stacks up, certainly a big shock but clubs returning from a week in the sun is a new phenomenum

It's always more impressive when the minnows win away from home. Whatever people say, terrible pitches, small grounds and hostile crowds do have an impact on cup games, which is why the Hereford and Sutton games are not as impressive as the media coverage they get.
Although Bradford are two leagues below Chelsea (as opposed to four when we played Birmingham), i'd say their upset eclipses ours only because they came back from 2-0 down at the best team in the country. Some lucky sod on Betfair backed Bradford to win at odds of 460/1 when they were losing 2-0.

No mention of Harlow Town 1 v Leicester 0 and a cetain MOTD presenter playing for Leicester

Histon 1 Leeds 0 tops the Everton result V Oldham for me
Burnley 0 Wimbledon 1 in 1975 is also missing
All about opinions Brian.

Wimbledon beating Liverpool is a weird one as Wimbledon finished about 6th or 7th that season and had beaten Liverpool the previous year in the league. Big gap in history yes, footballing gap wasn't that big at all.

yes but everyone expected Liverpool to win
I think the Bradford result on Saturday is well up there

The Times analysed 8 famous giantkilling peformances in a bid to decide which was the greatest achievement. Hereford, Yeovil, and Sutton were dismissed since they played at home.
We got the elbow on the basis that Birmingham hadn't won in 14 games and were relegated.
Conclusion was that the Bradford City performance in coming from two down away against arguably the best team in the country gave them the bragging rights. I tend to agree, but it's been nice this weekend that St.Andrews 1986 has been back in the public eye.

Still can't understand how a top seven Premier League (as it's called now) team winning the FA Cup in 1988 was a shock.
There was only 6 places between them in the football pyramid.

Exactly. Man City were expected to beat Wigan who were near the bottom of the league. That should be considered a bigger shock than the 1988 one.

Between 73 and 80 three cups were won by second division clubs

Sunderland's 1973 defeat of Leeds was my favourite.....Southampton's defeat of United left me distinctly underwhelmed.

So phil west ham beating arsenal be somewhere inbetween
-
Although I was only 2 at the time, I got the impression the Liverpool side of the 80's was the Barcelona of it's time (although the 88 side couldn't play in European Cup, if they could I would had thought they'd be one of the favorites?). So the equivalent would be Eibar (currently 8th in La Liga) beating Barcelona in the Copa Del Rey Final.

it was just a big shock, I wouldn't over think it with comparisons to Spain where the cup means little

The Milan side of 88 which won the european cup had gullit van basten maldini barasi and many more and wouldev won the European cup regardless of Liverpool

That is not the case anymore Sybil Barcelona Madrid and athletico probably now take their cup more serious than the top English sides do indeed both athletico and Barca picked their best 11 fit players tonight

I can't see one team beating another in a final as a cupset - if they were good enough to get to the final!
-

Arsenal finished 5th and Ipswich fifth from bottom. Roger Osborne's goal so knocked him out that he never achieved anything further in his career.

I didn't know the leauge positions however Ipswich were a team about to become very good
