All time Alty Top Scorers
« on: January 10, 2015, 11:26:03 PM »

Now we don't have a list of this on the website but having been through the legends section, and you'd assume anyone with more than 100 goals would be there, I think Damien Reeves has today moved into 3rd place on our all time list?

I make today's goal his 142nd? Which takes him past Jeff Johnson (140) and Walter Jones (141).

Only ahead of him are Graham Heathcote (147) and Sir Jackie Swindells (265 in 322 apps!!)

I think the point is that players like this are rarer than we think.

For the record the other players I think have scored 100 goals are

John Rogers 133
Colin Little 114 (?)
Fred Birtles 100
Stewart Littlewood 100 (in 111 apps)
And Johnny Worth with 96 goals.

Keep it going Reevesy lad!

Edit: Appreciate it if anybody with more accurate records could give us a proper run down...

Ballers,

I make that goal at Kidderminster yesterday Damian Reeves' 142nd for the club.

He has scored 16 goals to date this season (13 in the Vanarama Conference + three in Cup matches) to add to his pre-season total of 126.

I recently undertook some research on the topic of the Robins' leading goalscorers (with the considerable assistance of such Alty statistical gurus as Terry Rowley; Terry Surridge and Mike Garnett), so I'll aim to unearth some figures for you in the near future.

He has scored 15 goals to date this season to add to his pre-season total of 126.

Not a bad pre-season that. Fair play.

We are very lucky to have Damien its a fantastic attitude that he will only leave us for a leauge club to me a manager who has a team in trouble in leauge 2 would be daft not to take a gamble his goals would keep them up thankfully for us no one has took that gamble

Fortunately, I am of an age that enabled me to witness a great many of those 265 goals.

Lovely fella as well.

After comparing/checking the records/statistics held by Terry Rowley and Mike Garnett, the following list of Alty's leading goalscorers (as at 11/1/2015) has been compiled.

Alas, this is still not the definitive list (for some of the reasons outlined below) but it's probably the best that can be achieved at present:

Jack Swindells: 265

Graham Heathcote: 147

Jack Helme: 147 (this is a minimum, as there are around 40 missing goalscorers over the time that he played)

Walter Jones: 142

Damian Reeves: 142

Jeff Johnson: 141

John Rogers: 133

Johnny Worth: 123

Colin Little: 114

Fred Birtles: 106 (there are seven goalscorers missing over the seasons that he played)

Stewart Littlewood: 105 (incomplete, as there are 12 goalscorers unknown during the three seasons that he played).

Thanks Barry, I remembered from previous discussions there was someone missing. And I thought Johnny Worth had more than 96 goals.

Re Jack Helme, do we know what percentage of goals he scored? I.e. In the games we know he scored in, if his goals made up half of the known total then we could at least apply a guess and say 20 of the missing 40 goals were his.

Either way he sounds like a significant omission from the Legends page (Helme, not Reevesy - you're job isn't done yet Damien), albeit probably for the aforementioned lack of available detail.

So assuming (and it's one of the safer assumptions I've made) that Jack Helme scored at least one of those missing 40 goals we can see that Damien is now joint 3rd with Graham Heathcote on 147 goals in our All Time scorers list.

Keep it going Reevesy lad.

I think Damien's goals on Saturday draw him level with Graham Heathcote?
