that was frustrating to watch, but fair play they exploited their strenghths. A team all over 6 ft (maidstone utd 1986?), anybody think any other team has put more effort into a game this season? that was a a disciplined performance by a focussed team. they will not be far away in april, and good luck to them, that is exactly the game plan for a club with limted resouces. if our energy level is that poor next week, forget it

Two league defeats on the spin..welcome back.
-
what a prat you are
-
yeh Eckys a prat what the f**k are you on about. your the prat the only one that comes on after a defeat you sad basterd you've not been on in a month which proves just that.
-
Ouch...touched a nerve there.
You haven't posted since the Lewes game...coincidence?
-
they did well, that was a really honest performance by them. good luck, they will not be far away, although it was not pretty to watch
-
Always going to be tough today with one eye on Luton.
-
fingers crossed Stu availible to play
-
now lets beat forest green rovers and start that run again we are slowly slipping again
-
yeah lets then Dino won't be on for a week then at least
-
cant complain about this defeat they should of been ahead by half time we defended for most of the first half played better in second but we will always struggle against sides like this who are bigger and more physical think we did better when Jonson came on .What happend to Stu any body know . There kepper did well too couple off very good saves
-
A very annoying team to get beat by, don't think they desrved to win at all on any level. A 0-0 grind out would have been a fair reflection on what felt like a very long game, or perhaps even a cheeky victory if Johnson would have started?
-
The most committed I have seen Dale yesterday, he impressed me.
If all the team had had that attirude we might have got a different result.
-
Even though Histon are lying close to the top of the league, their style of play carried the distinct style of "hoofball", that said, it eventually proved effective as the important statistic was the final score being 1-0 to them.
In fairness, Alty had several opportunities where on a different day we could have gained all three points, the Johnson header in the box which was straight at the keeper, Danylyk's long range shot drew a great save from their keeper plus other times when the ball was whipped hard and low into the box and there was no one on hand to hammer home. The referee and assistant were also very questionable in not seeing blatant shirt pulls and pushes in the back.
Anyway, I came away not too perturbed knowing that we will still win more games and if we can get our "goals for" column increased we should certainly survive this season.
-
Did anyone else think that the old 'one eye on the game next week' syndrome played a part yesterday ?
Interesting game on Tuesday as we have to play most of the first team, not that, that makes any difference !
-
I just thought we were dreadfull to be honest

Personally, I hope that Histon stay as far away from us as possible.
I really don't want to watch them ever again.
The highlight of yesterday's dismal game occurred when a sliced defensive clearance sailed right up to the rear of the main stand, whereupon the ball promptly demolished the laptop of the reporter from the Cambridge Evening News....

First half we were poor, there was certainly a period in the second half where we got at them and ad mentioned earlier, we created a few decent chances to have got something from the game.

I didn't see the game as I was at the Norwich Beer Festival ;), however it sounds like they were on the front foot more than us.I have to say I have some respect for Histon. They seem to have decided that rather than live beyond their financial means by going full-time or paying silly wages, they'll just pack their team with big lads who can bully the opposition and pick up points without being particularly talented.
I'd be more pleased to see the likes of Rushden or Northwich relegated than Histon.
-
just like to say alty lads we can even beat northwich in rugby score alty kersal 9 northwich 5 go alty rugby lads just shows northwich cannot play football or rugby i wonder if they can swim or play squash
-
gunners11, your posts are comedy gold. Keep it up mate and have a Goodwin :D
-
Any chance you could use the odd capital letter or fulll stop old chap?
-
i would prefer playing the histon way and getting results, rather than playing negatively last season and getting nothing!
would anybody take a direct style if it guaranteed our position in this league?
-
Gunners11 u r now an official legend mate!

Hmm, don't now. I don't mind a bir direct but not to that extent every week. That said, I bet it doesn't look as sh*te when you win 1-0 every week, so hard to say really.
-
thanks lads i am a legend. ok there is my first full stop do u want any more. Kevin street i hope he is better soon . Out for a year.
