Seems like another nail in Macc's coffin. Other reports suggest that four of their first choice players are about to jump ship also. As much as I want to see Alty get ahead of Macclesfield (as indeed we almost always were until more recent times in our combined histories) I would actually prefer it if it was not achieved in this way.

To counter that I would suggest their position has been achieved under false pretences anyway. I would have preferred them to have stayed at our level so we fight them on equal (financial) terms!
-
Local lads looking for a reliable income, paid each month on time... I know next to nothing about their squad and am wondering if there is a bit of talent we could use for the rest of the season.
On the other hand Macc have a habit of escaping from grim situations.

Suspect they will this time.......relegated, but a new saviour at the helm

It's woodlouse syndrome. You lift the stone, the woodlice are there. You put the stone back - some months later you lift the stone, and the buggers are still there.

John Sheridan to Macc ? I suspect they will manage to stay up still,

Spot on, but kind of begs the question: What is a realistic level for us going forward after a decade (or more) of struggling to make any mark at all in the National League (Conference)?

Good question!
I think we can be good enough to make it ti mid table National league respectability if we can keep our infrastructure together and a few sensible signings.

Our finances would need a big boost to sustain national footy.

Whilst I secretly harbour thoughts of Alty in the EFL (and have done so since 1979) I know that you are absolutely right and unless there is some kind of magical intervention my aspirations on that front will have to wait ;)

I agree with this too.
