Alty Sign Chris Senior
« on: January 19, 2007, 11:31:38 AM »

from alty website:

Altrincham FC hope to complete the signing today, on loan till the end of the season, of Halifax Town striker Chris Senior. He was set to sign yesterday but weather conditions prevented that and he is expected to sign instead this lunchtime. 25 year-old Chris played against us recently at The Shay. As recently as November 2006, the Halifax boss Chris Wilder told the Halifax Courier, "Chris Senior was a major contributor in what we achieved last season" when the Shaymen reached the play-off final.

After a trial with Halifax Town in summer of 2003, Huddersfield-born Senior joined Scarborough, where he stayed till summer 2005. He started 31 league games for the Seadogs and netted 18 goals. He moved to Halifax on a free transfer in summer 2005 and made 21(+40) appearances for the Shaymen.

Chris joins Colin Little, Steve Bushell, Justin Bowler, Val Owen and Karl Munroe as ex-Shaymen currently at Moss Lane.

the question i have to ask is do we need another striker? surely we are in need of a left back more, unless GH is looking to play a 433 for the rest for the season

So he's scored one goal in 17 games looking at those stats? Seems an odd choice then unless he's a certain type of player ie someone to play off, hold the ball up, but surely that's what O'Neill does?

Getting very good reports from the Halifax fans on confguide.

"Short, quick and a good finisher... Wilder has used him as an 'impact' sub rather than playing him the whole game "

--------

"He isnt a 90min man or someone you will want to have on from the start. Best coming on late in the game when the oppositions legs are tiring.

He is a great lad and will give his all. But he just lacks a little bit of quality in his all round game. "

---------
He played for Hudds for a while, made only a couple of first team starts, did well for reserves- very quick, dont think he would have ever made it in football league though.

So who do you think will make way for him? Rod, Pat or Thomson?

Alty striker Pat McFadden is expected to play tomorrow for Flixton in the FA Vase
from www.altrinchamfc.com

So I would imagine he'll get a seat on the bench

Still a bit strange, havent we got Thornley, Little, O'Neill, McFadden (who has been very impressive lately) and the big man Thompson. I would have prefered a left sided player to come in, maybe there is still some time for new players still ??

Admitadly Senior is supposed to be a good finisher, but havent we already got Rod and Colin for that?? Or does GH know something we dont.

Probably that its going to be long run in with 18 games still to go. Hendley left who was an option on the bench and maybe he's liking Rod playing more in a wide role. Our strikers tend to tire towards the end of the games, and who can blame them so good to have someone who can come off the bench.

Yes we would all like a left back but unfortunatly they don't grow on trees so maybe some rejigging of positions with the current players is required.

He's only on loan remember so if he's not up to the standard then we don't have to play him anyway. Not like we have spent money on him.

I am all for an attacking player coming in on loan, if he score tomo then no one woud be complaing, of course the rule seems to be you have one chance of 10mins at Alty before you are judged by a certain set of fans, hope he knows that.

Another forward might be a debatable choice, but as long we score more goals than the opposition.........

Chris Senior is a good player. He's made one start up front this season and at least half of his sub appearances have put him on the wing. Look at his scoring record last season, he made a good contribution to us getting to the playoffs. He hasn't at all been given a fair chance for us this season. I expect him to do well for you.
