Altrincham FC First Team / Little & O'Neill re-sign
« on: May 10, 2007, 06:13:27 PM »
Can't see this anywhere else, so apologies if it's old news...

According to this week's SAM both Colin Little and Joe O'Neill have re-signed for next season.

Surprised at Joe staying - SAM say that Rotherham were interested, but good news for us :)

I hated that one too (and the away one). Funnily enough that's the only Alty top I've ever bought  :-\

Surely that can't be safe, only having one real exit?  ???

Baring in mind, we have increased the number of regulars coming to Moss Lane in the past two seasons. A good start to next season will see the average hovering between 900-1000 - no huge loss.

We averaged 1100ish this year - this helped by considerable numbers coming (i.e. a couple of hundred each) from York, Oxford, Cambridge, Vics, Morecambe, Southport and Halifax.

Having 10 people turn up from Vauxhall is surely going to be detrimental to the averages. Plus we will undoubtedly lose those people that have started to watch us over the past couple of seasons because we were playing Oxford and York, rather than Hucknall and Frickley.

Assuming that we don't set the league alight after the first couple of months, will also result in fewer people turning up.

It's not being negative, it's just a fact I'm afraid.

I think we should be looking forward rather than back. Maddox and Potts are bobbing on a bit and as has already been said, they are not any better than what we have at the moment :)

I dont think anything will happen with Boston or Crawley but if it does then great.

Sod all the "not the Alty way", I would stay up at any costs of any team in financial trouble.

Not going to happen though.

Someone mentioned that Geoff is now staying on in another post. Is this true?

T'is on the official site http://www.altrinchamfc.co.uk/alty1.htm :)

Agree that we should have a 'no text speak' rule (don't just limit it to the kids I might add). I've noticed a few regulars not posting recently - maybe down to the kids (over)posting?

Maybe play that Faithless track we played before the Cambridge game. It might bring us luck (and hopefully a similar scoreline) :)

I don't think we had a big crowd against Grays(?) at the end of last season so I don't think we will this time either. I'd love to be proved wrong though.

Do you honestly think that just because people have been criticising certain players, that they won't get behind and be willing them to win?

Bizarre.

3.  There's been quite a bit more negativity on here from a few people over the last day or two - and that's ok if that's how you feel - but if you really have the best interests of the club at heart, couldn't you manage to keep it together and bite your tongue until after the Aldershot game? The team and the club need our support (not just on Saturday but in the run-up to it too) more than ever before. Let's not let them down and let's show them we're behind them all the way come what may.

Does people moaning on here really have any tangible negative affect upon the club?

I'm positive all those that have been critical over the last few days will be giving their utmost support on Saturday when it actually matters. Nevertheless they are perfectly allowed to air their views, positive or negative, in the mean time.

Positive thinking is one thing, actively repressing views for little benefit is another.

Exactly. Everyone here was pretty much positive going into the Tamworth game, yet we were beaten.

It's nice to think that positive thinking works, but I doubt very much it does on a messageboard tbh.

I think we're entitled to a moan after Saturday's display and entitled to express our worry/concern about the coming week.

I agree with Bushell going. I don't think he's looked like he particularly wants to play for us, and for me, has been the most disappointing player this season.

To be fair, reading through last night's posts on here, I don't think we're in any position to call anyone elses spelling.

I wish people would try and make an effort to type in English  ::)

I can't go! I had everything planned, but something's come up that I can't get out of :(

I'm definitely going to Tamworth though.

Although I think it may be a blessing in disguise. I haven't seen Alty win away since the play off final  :o
