Wouldn't mind betting we'll play Colwyn Bay away at some point during pre-season as well.

I'm not so sure on that, Francis and the Liverpool doormen soured that relationship...

Yeah it's a great shame as it would have been a nice summer afternoon out for our supporters there.

I don't hold Colwyn Bay in very high esteem tbh. Would rather play TNS

TNS will be too busy with European football, and we need better quality opposition than Bae Colwyn. We should be playing level 6 or full strength level 5 at home, and level 7 away. Trafford is traditional and can be exempted. Chester should prove a good yardstick.

I'm not sure many would bother to travel to Colwyn for a friendly

A lot went the other year before they became Wankers

Before being the important word there.

This is what I was basing it on.

I was also working on the assumption that now "Dickhead" is no longer their manager, relations may potentially not be quite so frosty anymore.

I think one of their board members retorts upon us leaving enmasse for the last time was "f**k off and get promoted so we don't have to have you *year again"

*the Welsh variant of here

Since then they've been relegated twice and everyone hates them. Everyone knows who ruined that club but they were too busy blowing smoke up his arse to realise how badder name they were getting. Shame as I always enjoyed them previously.

Llandudno - nice set up but it's an artificial pitch.  They're also going to be involved in early European qualification rounds.

Anywhere on the North Wales coast would do me except Bangor. Would say that tho, living in Rhyl.

We could play them on the Great Orme.. similar slope to the Congleton ground way back when.  ;)

The pitch might be good practice for the away game at Tamworth.

I'm sure that Tamworth are laying a 4G pitch over the summer so you'd hope it will be flat.

Re: sloping pitches

Booth Street, Congleton Town in their Mid Cheshire days with Roy Campbell in charge: staggering slope! 17 feet?  Evened out by building the bottom half up and digging some of the top half.  Must visit again and see what it's like now.
Grundy Hill, Horwich RMI: sloped both ways! Unique! Gone now: RMI moved to Leigh.
Townfield Lane, Barnton: haven't been since Mid Cheshire days. Last spotted in third place in the North West Counties League Division One (i.e. 2nd Div.)

All presented problems to the referee as well as the visitors!

I'm going to lie down in a dark room for a while. I was convinced I was replying to a comment about slopey pitches.

I was at Congleton the other week, still firmly sloped!

Barnton are in the Counties Div 1 play off final on Saturday

They've done well!  I reffed a 4-4 draw there once.  4-0 at half time, all scored at the 'top' end....

Going back to the Chester friendly being announced, does anyone else find the choice of Chester a little strange in the light of the post match trouble along Moss Lane towards the town centre, after the recent league game?

I doubt they will bring any more than 40 people and the idiots won't want to attend...............it's Youngy's ex-club and also good opposition for us

True there will be a much lower crowd and less idiots on both sides, but when a friendly will probably require segregation you think the club would maybe choose a different opponent
